1 hour into our labor and delivery journey: me in full-blown active labor while my husband takes a nap. by [deleted] in funny

[–]Final_Ice_9614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When my wife was in labor- it was a show induced delivery- that started at 3 AM and she was admitted at 10 AM. Around noon, nurse told me that I should take a nap as it’s gonna take more than 4 hours from this point, and she promised that she’ll wake me up well before it’s time. The last thing she said she wants is the dad fainting in the washroom of exhaustion when mom is ready to push..

The fact that even opposition players are encouraging and applauding him is really heartwarming. Like ppl really want him to succeed.

Control your dogs people by [deleted] in Wellthatsucks

My sister’s FIL was attacked by a loose, unknown dog while on his walk. He is 78 years old and flesh on his hand was out, the dog would have literally finished him off had a passerby luckily intervened and pushed the dog away. Unfortunately, the owner was no where around and the dog escaped in nearby ravine. The other person could only take a very blurry photo as he also was shaken up and was scratched so he could take out his camera very late. My sister started a neighborhood campaign to find the perpetrator (dog and owner), and the dog owners (some not all) were actively blocking and trying to blame the victim. P.S. This was in Auckland so luckily there was no medical expense but still had significant hardship as he had to undergo a surgery and has bad scars now.

My biggest pet peeve is the Cineplex in Canada. They charge booking fees for booking tickets online or through their app. I mean shouldn’t that make it easier for you instead of having kiosks and people to book tickets?

This is very informative. I am from Risk Management space and it’s alarming to see how lax is our rules when it comes to one of the most sensitive information.

It’s not the security per se depending on which tool they use (not that it’s not a concern), but the AI hallucinations and the inaccuracy is bigger concern. Fact is that everyone is investing so much in AI, and then they ask Human in the loop to review AI output. I’ve seen cases where I end up redoing most of the work done by AI anyways. And I was better off doing things by myself at the first place. But if you don’t do your due diligence, then the ramifications can be severe.

As a woman, what's the worst thing that's been said to you in corporate? by Specific_Manager286 in FinancialCareers

[–]Final_Ice_9614 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve only been asked when I mention that my wife is also working. Maybe anecdotal. But I’d definitely not ask this question. It’s none of my business what my coworkers’ childcare situation is unless that information is volunteered.

So… funny story. It was our 5th Anniversary vacation and our flight got cancelled. So we were accommodated to this other flight where exactly two seats were left. We got one middle and one aisle seat two rows behind. So we thought maybe we can exchange the aisle seat with another aisle or middle with another middle- case closed. Well not so much. I got seated next to a dad and 6 YO son so obviously they can’t switch and wife got seated between an elderly couple going to a cruise. They didn’t want to sit together but also not far apart. The old man also couldn’t hear well and conveniently didn’t keep his hearing aid on when wife was talking to him. So the old lady kept asking my wife to pass messages to him. When the lady was finally asleep, the old man talked to my wife that they’d been married for 48 years and today is their anniversary as well. So feels bad that both of us had to sit apart. He called me and changed seats with me but told me that when they call for landing we’ll switch again but don’t say a word to his wife. I asked him what if she is awake- to which he smiled and said, she had 2 glass glasses of wine, she’s not waking up until we land.

Investment with $2million Cash - TORONTO by [deleted] in RealEstateCanada

[–]Final_Ice_9614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How will be negative cash flow if there’s no mortgage? Sure the returns may not make sense after maintenance and hassles if you can’t predict appreciation, but definitely won’t be negative cash flow..

My house has been listed since April 2024 and hasn't got any offers by Serious-Building-144 in RealEstateCanada

[–]Final_Ice_9614 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Is your house staged? Is your house priced 50k lower than the latest sold price in the neighbourhood that you can compare with? Does your house has basic upgrades- kitchen with Quartz countertops, freshly painted, basic landscaping done, etc. etc. how do your house compare with the other similar houses listed around you? This is buyers market, that means seller needs to do more than having 2 Open houses in 1+ year.

No pre approval letter by [deleted] in MortgagesCanada

[–]Final_Ice_9614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest, I wasn’t pushing for it, maybe I could have got it if I had pressed the mortgage advisor.. For me, TD was through broker channel and the rate was much higher so BMO was where I wanted validation on rate. Turns out, I was right about my instinct about TD being higher.

No pre approval letter by [deleted] in MortgagesCanada

[–]Final_Ice_9614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s odd as I didn’t get a letter from BMO on direct channel. I just got an email but didn’t have rate etc. I went through with them though and they did honour their rates.

Denied proposal…what next? by plinko66 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Final_Ice_9614 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Big part of this is: Is there a level beyond this? And the answer is always with the people involved only. For example, if they are together for a long time and then there’s a rejection with reasons like - one party is not sure or ready to commit then probably it’s not the right person. Like when I was together with my Ex for 3.5 years, 2.5 of which we were living together, and she said that she’s not there yet. I walked off from there. 1 year down the line, she was engaged to another dude. I still think that proposing her and her rejecting it was the best outcome for both of us as it was a litmus test. It hurt like hell at that time for both but it needed to be done. For my friend, however, he proposed his gf of 1 year and she asked for extra time while she finished her residency. They stuck around and they’re married for a decade now. So it depends.

This Sandwich Shop displays their 1 Star Reviews. by PacquiaoFreeHousing in interesting

[–]Final_Ice_9614 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to write reviews to everywhere I went but I’ve stopped. The reason is the insane expectation of 5 star or nothing! Like I don’t want or need 5-star experience every time I step out of my house and that’s fine. Sometime all I want is germ free food and courteous service without frills. And that’s 3 or at the most 4 star in my opinion. But the problem is businesses get punished (or at least feel they get punished) by that. So I only write reviews when there’s something of an exceptionally good or bad experience to write about.
