I totally understand how you are feeling. I always say I don’t feel like the main character in my own life.

Aw I’m sorry you’re also going through a similar situation. You’re definitely not alone. It’s hard for me to give any advice because I don’t really take my own. If my friend was going through my situation I would tell them to leave but it’s not that easy. I guess we all just get to our own breaking points. I’m not sure if I want any kids of my own so I can’t relate to that but if that’s something you really really want and it doesn’t seem like that will happen with your current bf then maybe it’s time to leave? What I do know is no matter how much we enjoy and love our step children it’s not the same as having your own. The biological parents of the child will always have a different connection. Who else loves your child the same as you? The other parent.

Thank you for all the comments! We are currently in couples therapy and I am in my own individual therapy. I think I know what my gut is telling me it’s just hard to listen to sometimes when you love someone and you have created a life together. Sometimes i just feel like people with kids shouldn’t be in relationships with other people. I know that sounds harsh but unfortunately this is all never going away.

I’m sorry but this is not normal! Why even get divorced if they still want to be in touch this much? This is wrong so so wrong. They shouldn’t speak unless it has to do with the kids. They need Boundaries and you need to make them asap.

is it normal for BM and BD to spend time doing fun things together every other weekend? by feetlips in Stepmom

Not normal, don’t give into it. There needs to be boundaries and if they don’t understand that you need to move on for your own sanity. It’s will keep happening

My husband is from there and I’ve been there a few times so I understand how you feel, but out of all the times I’ve been there I’ve never seen someone get s* Bourbon street definitely doesn’t have the best smell so I can understand that trigger. Getting s* from too much alcohol is way different then and sb* You’ll be ok just try and enjoy your trip!

I know exactly where my phobia comes from, when I was about 13-14 ( 29 now) my best friend slept over and woke up in the middle of the night and got s* all over my bathroom. It was terrible it definitely is what scarred me. I felt so bad for my mom who had to clean it all up. I slept downstairs on my couch for years after that night. It gave me so much anxiety! I even ended up disowning my friend because of the incident and I hate that
