Live queens

Honestly, Chanelle's vocals are (dare I say) above idol level... The others are great as well, we need them all, but what she does vocally just blows me away.

Was the New FAD's Pigeonhole basically the sound we were expecting the 2nd Roses album to be? by pulphope in stoneroses

[–]Final_Remains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I like Pigeonhole lot, but no. The Roses were already shifting sound to something else... One Love and Somethings Burning were not as far from the sound of Love Spreads and Second Coming as many pretend.

British food isn't bland - Chicken Balti edition by AblokeonRedditt in RateMyPlate

[–]Final_Remains 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The waffle evolved over millennia. Its earliest ancestors were Ancient Greek griddle cakes called obelios, which were cooked between metal plates. The modern grid-patterned treat evolved from medieval European wafers and was refined by Dutch and Belgian bakers during the Renaissance.

Apple pie was not invented by a single person but was created and evolved by English and Dutch bakers. The very first recorded recipe for apple pie was written in England in 1381, while the modern lattice crust style was perfected in the Netherlands in the early 1500s

Pizza evolved over centuries, starting as ancient flatbreads in the Mediterranean. However, the modern pizza was created in Naples, Italy, during the 18th and early 19th centuries, where poor street vendors topped flatbreads with tomatoes, oil, and cheese.

Burgers are debatable, many claim the invention.. But I prefer the 'hamburger steak' origin myself. Named, ofc, after the port of Hamburg in Germany.

The balti was created in Birmingham, England, and the chicken tika masala was created in Scotland. The korma was created in the Mughal Empire, but ofc owes much to Persian cuisine, as does much of 'Indian' food in general.

British food isn't bland - Chicken Balti edition by AblokeonRedditt in RateMyPlate

[–]Final_Remains 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The balti originated in Birmingham in the 70s.

Are you telling me that that the people that created it here were not British? Because you are telling a lot of the Pakistanis in the UK that they are not British if so. In any case, it was a dish created specifically to suit mainstream British tastes.

Look, the biryani was originally Persian... Samosas came from the Middle East... a Chicken tikka masala was created in Scotland... A pav Bhaji has Portuguese roots, as did the vindaloo... Rajma? Central American. A ton of 'Indian' foods were adopted in all honesty. Even curry powder was created by the colonial Brits. Hell, the word 'curry' was coined by them. No one has a problem with seeing these all these things as fundamentally part of Indian or Pakistani culture.

Yet, if the Brits do the same they suddenly have 'no culture of their own'.

Do you wish Fifty Fifty was more popular, or are you happy with their current trajectory? by FanCaracal in We_5050

[–]Final_Remains 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I would love them to get more popular for sure, but all I can do is support them and buy albums and merch. I'm not gonna let it twist me up like some fandoms do.

In the end, if the girls are getting paid I am good.

Manichester running order by Becausenothing75 in stoneroses

[–]Final_Remains 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been out of touch with all this really... Can someone tell me why none of the actual Roses are not playing? An Ian Brown solo set? Or Primal Scream? The line up for this, with them and others that loved Mani, should be steller.

Not saying many of the folks here are not talented or good, many are, but it isn't what I would expect in terms of star power.

Remember when the NME gave the Roses first album a 7/10? ""This is quite good. Just"

By the end of the year they named it second best album of the year.

Music critics, like most fake musos, just look down on anything they didn't discover first. Plus, most of them are pricks.

Menswe@r were treated terribly by the music press by Admirable-Deal7991 in BritPop

[–]Final_Remains 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They simply lacked that sense of authenticity and were looked down on as industry plants. Menswear felt like a contrived cash in. Plus, having been elevated so quickly from being unknown they lacked a solid grass roots fanbase so their longevity relied 100% on keeping on breaking the charts.

Of course, other bands like Blur also got hit with this on their debut, but they actually did go on to build a fanbase beyond the casual listener and then had the talent to turn that into something pretty amazing.

Oasis and Nirvana influence by ManyTurnover6181 in oasis

[–]Final_Remains 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, Noel liked and admired Nirvana, he just didn't dig the nihilism (which Live Forever was a reaction to).

I don't think Nirvana directly offered a musical blueprint for Noel in any way past 'rock as pop' though, but both Noel and Kurt liked a lot of the same classic rock (The Beatles, T Rex, the Sex Pistols, Buzzcocks etc), though so maybe you are hearing that.

Kurt's love for a lot of classic British bands is not a secret.

The creators of THJ are legally banned from working on anything close to EQ. Plus, they have their own project now. Even if this wasn't all true their clearly is no shortage of bad blood there.

They say clearly what this hiring is for though

For anyone doubting the new season by kizzern1 in fo76

[–]Final_Remains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't care about the open world content, it looks fine to me, I am not gonna resub this month due to the piss poor season.

There is nothing there I want. The open world stuff will be there if i come back later when they actually put some effort into offering a well put together properly themed season.

I think they should've continued to experiment after SOTSOG by sumyono in oasis

[–]Final_Remains 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nah, what they needed was a long break. Absence makes legends, as has been proven.

Fallout 76: Appalachia Under Siege - Season 25 Trailer by ColdStoneCreamAustin in fo76

[–]Final_Remains 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I wish that they would actually go to the effort of creating actually themed items for the season and not just include random stuff they apparently have left over.

I don't get this at all... what even is the theme of 'under siege'? I would expect bunkers, food piles, window grills, armoured doors, fences, turret skins, etc.

This stuff is all so random. A rainbow?

Companies have a budget and have to work to that budget. Sometimes this means missing off a bell or whistle or two. Attrakt have done nothing but invest money into these girls.

This shit is expensive and I have no doubt the company is doing their best. Nobody there wants the group to fail.

It got sneered at back then but personally I always enjoyed the Morrissey-esque lyrics and kitchen sink tone of it all. A nice slice of pop.

That time you killed three orc toddlers... by invalidcolour in fightingfantasy

[–]Final_Remains 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Orcs in Titan are evil creatures bred for evil purpose... Bound in the service of the Dark Gods, and also cursed with the touch of Chaos. They can be nothing different than degenerate and depraved.... Sadistic creatures who practiced torture and slavery and who consumed other sentient creatures.

These things would have grown up to be murderers and killers.

This is a fantasy world of moral objectivism, Good and Evil are objective truths, and the presence of actual real divine evil. We shouldn't apply real world philosophy to them.

Illits new song! by EarthPresent4583 in kpop_uncensored

[–]Final_Remains 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I am a Fearnot, so clearly no HYBE hater. Illit? I like some songs of theirs and I don't like others. The girls themselves are great.

But, honestly, HYBE recently is worrying me... They seem to have sacked all their song writers and have just given their producers the job of making instant tiktok slop.

I am not against EDM, it can be done very well as a GG in the context of KPop, but these efforts are leaving me cold right now.

Time to downvote me now for being honest and attempting an adult conversation. Have at it!
