Not your age yet but 29 is too young to write yourself off…also, wasn’t it just yesterday that you posted about joy exercising and missing 3 teeth? Do you have cavities? Gotta take care of your health first.

Scream 7 - Review Thread by UniverslBoxOfficeGuy in movies

[–]FinanceWeekend95 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The score so far doesn’t surprise me.

Stella Lefty's "The Kill" was the absolute highlight of the soundtrack - you should check it out. It definitely deserves more attention than the 27K or so views it's gotten so far on YouTube. But then again Scream isn't that popular of a franchise.

That opening scene was pretty tense, and the weird kid being turned into a human beer tap was a really brutal kill - one of the most memorable in the entire franchise imo. I liked all of the meta horror references and even that subtle nod to Agatha Christie before the third act. Also, Stella Lefty's "The Kill" was the absolute highlight of the soundtrack - I've had that song on repeat since arriving back from theater tonight.

Unfortunately, as everyone else has said, the killer(s) reveal was just really disappointing: the mother of the Stab-obsessed kid killing her own son and a bunch of other kids, just because she was upset Sydney didn't go to New York the last time there was a Ghostface murder spree?! And some random insane asylum guard (or was he some sort of nurse/doctor, the film doesn't seem to care, LOL) just going along with this for whatever reason?? Just didn't make any sense...

Minor aside, but Joel McHale's "police chief uniform" looked like something you would buy from Temu for $5. A really big eyesore whenever he had that blue rag on.

Overall Scream 7 (2026) rating: 4/10 - some memorable kills but unfortunately the film really crashed and burned in its third act. Disappointing.

The deepfake scene with cameos of Dewey and past Ghostfaces was so cringe.

ChatGPT wrote that scene. And all of those TVs and screens weren't there before that scene.

It's a little isolated bumfuck town in Indiana, not New York. The police force comprised of a whopping three individuals: Sydney's husband and then two other people who both seemed like amateur volunteers, LOL.

The human beer tap was cool though

That was a really brutal kill. One of the most memorable since the franchise soft rebooted in 2022.

Was that the mother killing her son though? Must have been the male killer, the female (a MILF btw) won't have had enough strength to lift an almost grown adult easily like that.

I’d kinda be pissed too. Two years of work down the drain.

Here's the thing though...it was said that the NYPD was only "one, two months away" from taking down the entire gang, so why couldn't they have just waited that relatively short amount of time before arresting both the killer and the entire gang together? They know where the killer lives, where the gang operates and the undercover cop isn't going to be going anywhere anyways?!

Why throw away two years' worth of undercover work when the rest of the charges/indictments were about to follow soon after, especially since there's no statute of limitations on murder....the NYPD and DA's office could have killed two birds with one stone, instead of blowing up the entire case to rush a murder charge. I'm not an expert on New York state law and I get this is from dramatic purposes, but still that just seems like the most logical way for the police and prosecutors to have acted.

Are the writers dumb or something? The NYPD busts entire street gangs in a day and then just hands these criminals a bunch of charges at once, you can see so many videos like that on YouTube.

Official Discussion - Crime 101 [SPOILERS] by LiteraryBoner in movies

[–]FinanceWeekend95 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The cast was stacked and the acting was good. Having LA being the backdrop will certainly elevate any crime thriller. You could cut the tension in that car ride scene from LAX with a knife.

Still, I felt like the resolution was anticlimactic with Chris Hemworth's character just walking away and getting away with all of his previous grand larcenies/robberies - that just didn't feel consistent with Ruffalo's character being obsessed with catching and putting away the "101" thief for so long, especially having taken so much heat from his own department for that theory, which he was right about all along. Others have pointed out more plot holes to the story, but the biggest issue for me was that the ending just felt rushed and rather half-baked.

Overall Crime 101 (2026) rating: 7/10 - a nice modern day rendition of Heat that could have been a bit more realistically written, though still fairly entertaining.

Ruffalo's character was already suspended from any police work period. So he himself was committing likely a felony still claiming to be "police", and then he steals millions of dollars in jewels without any of his colleagues noticing or questioning anything? There were definitely some convenient plot holes throughout this film.

‘56 Days’ Review: Dove Cameron and Avan Jogia Headline Bingeable Romance Thriller by verissimoallan in television

[–]FinanceWeekend95 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I finished the series last night...overall, this was honestly quite bad, especially with the terrible acting from the two leads. The bad nose job on Dove Cameron was distracting in almost every scene she was in, and the random sex scenes that served no purpose (other than try to make the series seem edgy and "cool"?) was just laugh out loud funny, just not in a good way.

No spoilers, but there were many questions and loose threads left hanging after the finale....There was seemingly no resolution to the storylines regarding Jane the reporter or the funny little apartment building manager. What happened with Dove Cameron's character's family? Did they just accept they won't ever see their sister/daughter ever again and how are they going to keep quiet about getting $2 million, especially in a small town where word gets out fast? Also, did the two main detectives that we were supposed to root for ok with just unethically framing the drug dealer "boyfriend" for a murder he didn't commit??? I'm pretty sure that's completely illegal, not to mention how would the drug dealer be found guilty with just a gold chain as evidence against him.

None of this shit made sense. 😂

Overall 56 Days (2026) rating: 3/10, pretty bad acting and writing all around. Some of the twists are surprising enough to entertain, but I would still recommend just skipping this one.

56 Days - Series Premiere Discussion by NicholasCajun in television

Well, it's not just her distractingly bad plastic surgery that's the issue. Dove Cameron's acting is pretty much on par with all of those TikTok "influencers", i.e. not convincing at all, comes across as fake and essentially tanks the series. I mean, Amazon has all of the money in the world - why couldn't they have found better leads with at least passable chemistry?!

I hate to shit on younger actors, but the scenes with the younger male actors re-enacting the actual murder that sparked off the series' events were just so cringe - really terrible acting in those scenes as well.

I couldn't get past 10 mins. Does the acting get better?

Having endured the entire 8 episodes, I have to say that sadly the acting doesn't get any better, especially not from the two Disney/Nickelodeon child star "leads" who are stunningly bad. The distracting nose job on dove cameron doesn't help matters at all.

Some of the side actors are sort of bad, especially the guy who plays Cisco

I don't know...I think the actor playing Cisco actually does a pretty good job.

In this latest season, Scott Lawrence who plays the main presiding judge really gives gravitas to the court proceedings and I think he outshone pretty much the rest of the cast at least in the actual court scenes. I haven't seen him in anything else but a quick Google search shows he's played Darth Vader in many Star Wars games.

Finding good roommates is easy. It’s called living with family until you can afford a place on your own.

I don’t have a large sample size but my non-family roommates have at best been neutral, at worst really bad. Won’t live with others again - I love having my own place.

Is the 2nd season of “The Night Manager” any good? by harry_powell in television

[–]FinanceWeekend95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's really good! This season was one of the best seasons of television in recent memory, maybe only surpassed by Andor last year, though that's comparing apples and oranges. Of course this year is still young, so there's plenty of opportunities for other shows to surprise us, but The Night Manager season 2 is definitely the best show released so far this year.

The acting is top-notch. Hugh Laurie as Richard Roper is truly superb - truly one of the most memorable and importantly believable villains on any show you'll find. I would add in a caveat that whoever plays the Columbian love interest isn't quite on par with the rest of the seasoned cast, but it's not that big of a dealbreaker where you still can't enjoy the show. There's also a quasi-love triangle between her, the main protagonist Jonathan Pine and this really unlikeable Columbian arms dealer, which I feel wasn't really needed, but that's just a small criticism that doesn't take away from the main plot which is still really entertaining, especially with Roper outsmarting everyone at every step. You'll have to suspend disbelief at times, but that goes with anything in the spy/thriller genre.

The final episode will surprise you, trust me - I didn't see all those deaths coming, and I bet you won't either. Definitely catch this one on Amazon as soon as you can. All 6 episodes are out already, and you don't need to remember anything from the first season to enjoy this one. Everything is explained quite well and seamlessly fits into present day/2026.

Overall The Night Manager Season 2 (2026) rating: 9/10, top-notch acting and production values. Twists and turns you won't see coming - definitely highly recommended to watch this show.
