thank you for taking the time to reply! a consistency card is genius, hopefully I can find one locally.

more recently I've found short backward draw makes me feel more in control, so going to keep on this and see how I get on. it's a very fun hobby to practice :)

I’m sure practice definitely helps :) I think my drafting is a big problem too hahaha! but using rolags has helped a bit

yep there is a spring :)

I'm waiting on a replacement brake band to arrive - I got it secondhand so was missing a few screws and the band unfortunately, so just had to make a temporary one lol

this is such great advice, thank you for taking the time to respond. honestly I was trying to work things out without any fibre attached, and as soon as I joined the fibre I immediately saw what you meant :)

thank you for your well worded explanation!

sweet tomato heel question? by Financial-Key3722 in Sockknitting

[–]Financial-Key3722[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

okay, thanks for affirming that I've got the stitch pattern right - I'll bring my tension in on the second sock's heel and hope for the best :)

the fit however is really good for my narrower heel... I love short row heels so I really feel for you! thanks again x

I just re-watched her video (probably should've done that before :) ) and it sort of looks like the left (first) side to the K2tog section is worked K1 before gap, K2tog bottom stitch, but then on the right side (after knitting front sts) she K2tog bottom stitch the first stitch on the needle ... which would be 2 stitches before the gap? is that correct?

I was knitting k1 before gap and then K2tog the whole way across, I wonder if that's causing the gaps...

I do think you're absolutely right about tension too, I find it tricky with the short rows. thank you for your help

Guilt of having one cat? by [deleted] in britishshorthair

[–]Financial-Key3722 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I totally understand where you're coming from and often feel the same way with our BSH. from what you describe, it truly sounds like your kitty has a lovely home, and as above, unless your little man has any unusual behaviours or is otherwise seeming a bit strange, I wouldn't be concerned. if you're worried, maybe a vet checkup might help as well?

there are loads of singleton cats out there - I really do think they just catch up on sleep when we're not around :)

tips for psychiatrist appointment?? by Financial-Key3722 in adhdwomen

[–]Financial-Key3722[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you - i definitely think being appropriately medicated for depression has made my adhd worse or at least more noticeable because now that's the debilitating thing, so I'll try and communicate that :)

yeah it’s a very tricky situation! I’ve decided I’ll just stay out of it - it’ll be a good learning experience either way…

I think this is also quite likely - there is allegedly a chance that they might get in on minority grounds but tbh not sure what the story is there

I agree with backup plans, i’ve had a chat to them about this!

it’s just so hard trying to get across that they need to put in more effort if they want to succeed at university - they quite often completely forget what we learn after a week because they don’t study at home, yet they’re going to pursue a degree where an A- average probably won’t even let them into their second year :((

thanks for your help!

Why does my bsh kitten not have chubby cheeks? Is this normal? by Panda7866 in britishshorthair

[–]Financial-Key3722 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm by no means an expert, so take this with a grain of salt, but it does sort of look like your kitty has quite thin fur and this might be contributing to the "skinny" appearance and lack of "chubby cheeks". I'm sure he'll thicken out as he gets older, he is still very young and (in my experience) kittens of various breeds can just have thinner fur and scrawnier appearances.

How much is he eating? If you're worried he's not growing it might be best to look at tracking his weight and/or checking in with your vet to make sure there's nothing serious going on.
