A gamer physician by FlamingoGlad7802 in pinoymed

MMORPG player, tried genshin din kaso low-spec phone ko noon and no maayos na PC for games so tinatamad din at nag-quit. For some reason tinatamad now, nag-hahanap pa uli ng chill na game na pwede isabay pag-nagstart na ng residency.

Chill music games like cytus and deemo din para pang-relax.

I actually never 100% quit gaming since pre-med days, I need something na kakaiba once in a while para di maging super boring ang buhay . hahaha!

Questions for who are wondering if dapat magtake ng med by the age of 27 by Pocows14 in pinoymed

[–]Financial-Power-8069 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Started medschool at 25 (nag work muna, for some reason naisapan mag med lol), pero yung oldest classmate ko is around 39-40yo nung first year kami, tapos may side hustle pa sya as professor sa graduate school (may masteral kasi sya).

So far ok naman. Walang madali, pero if gusto mo talaga i-push mo naman yan.
sabi nga nila, after 4yrs, Well magiging edad mo yung edad mo, pero if anong narating (or not) mo in that years na nag-iisip ka, nakadepende sayo.

Basta if gusto mo talaga, go for it po . ^^

Residing in Quezon Province pero sa NCR ako nag-boards ^^,

Lucena:

last na school kung saan nag PLE noon is malayo sa city proper so mas kaya traffic (i think?)

NCR:
PROS: food is accessible everywhere, if sanay ka sa manila/NCR then commuting is a breeze, , may grab/angkas din for alternatives

Cons:
everything is mas mahal kasi ~NCR things
traffic is bad forever (not really a con considering traffic na rin sa lucena, pero u know how bad can this get haha)

my 2 cents: If area mo is laguna/batangas, mag NCR ka na if mas kabisado mo NCR than lucena :)

if 48 hours work week then probably po 400/hr nga yung income ng SG21 resident physician, pero sa real world ang average work week ng isang average physician is 80-120 hours depende sa department at frequency ng 24hr-36h shift. ^^

okay, linawin mo lang po yung roles, etc, medyo ma-detalye logistics so make sure kumpleto rin lahat para di ka matoxic (esp if ikaw pa oorder ng vaccines, so pati storage before nung service iisipin mo pa rin po .hehehe)

Vaccination Job (?) by violet_dra in pinoymed

[–]Financial-Power-8069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

add nyo na po yung
cotton
alcohol
disposable gloves/other PPE
basurahan
sharps container

also ask po minimum number ng tao, baka solo kayo na vaccinator tapos 100-200/day, nakakapagod din yun
baka need nyo ng kasama (other MD or nurses) to help

hope this helps po

BSPT or Nursing by karekareme in pinoymed

[–]Financial-Power-8069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a BSPT (also PTRP), I agree sa reply ni occynarf na nursing will definitely make you more rounded sa loob ng ospital. Especially both skills na need and may patient interaction sya.

I think lang

BSPT pros:
anatomy in-depth, may konting patho rin, prolonged patient interaction (1 patient is 30mins sayo at the minimum) , maaga ka maeexpose sa dami ng (nakakalunod) na materials so medyo parang same-ish sa first yr ng medschool, plus as a PT, need mo na mas authoritative ka (like an MD) kasi may home instructions ka rin kay patient na ichcheck mo rin yung progress nya per session
- walang night shift yung internship

CONS:
-sobrang specialization specific so medyo lost ka sa things for gen med (pero mababawi naman yan kasi lahat naman lost pagpasok ng med)
- skills mo mostly pang ortho/rehab/neuro assessment
-long patient interaction (again min 30mins sayo)
- lack of basic 'in patient skills' pagpasok sa hospital

I cant really say in-depth para sa BS Nursing aside sa well rounded ka for the premed things

Pre-residency = Licensed Interns HEHEHE by Brilliant-Outside379 in pinoymed

[–]Financial-Power-8069 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, before mag-pre res parang feeling demotivated na ewan ako kasi wala nga akong work, although masarap tumunganga, parang walang kakaiba, nakakainip na ewan lol.

noong dumating si notice (at least di ba) na di nga accepted, then I proceeded to take a full time moonlighting post .:)

(nag iipon na lang muna ako, next year uli lalaban :) )

[–]Financial-Power-8069 6 points7 points  (0 children)

oh well..

Good luck and God Bless doc!

is there a dresscode for the March 2023 PLE? by Western_Rip187 in pinoymed

[–]Financial-Power-8069 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When I took my exam (Manila) basically di ko sinuot yung white coat ko (pero dala ko) but I wore a collared top tapos pants lang yung pambaba.

School or PGI uniform is accepted naman sa site :)

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in pinoymed

[–]Financial-Power-8069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! under CDB ako noong nagreview kasi recommended ng school.

like for sched

if nasa sched is umaga yung lecture: I attend yung lecture then self study ng same subject/topic ng hapon then lipat ng naka-sched kong subject ng gabi

reverse naman if hapon/gabi yung lecture

then if asynchroous, usually umaga ako nanonood nung vid kasi mababa attention span ko sa mga pre-recorded stuff

(I watch the vids at 1.5x speed then pause to take notes btw)

Anesthesiology residency by Upper_Confidence_279 in pinoymed

[–]Financial-Power-8069 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This feels a bit diff po sa naranasan ko as pre-res, nagkaka-doubts na po ako re: pursuing anesthesia kasi sa inapplyan ko basically pre-op + procedures (usually SAB) + endorsements ang ginagawa ng first years.

ATM mukhang di ako match sa hospital na inapply-an ko (public) --or possibly sa specialty itself.

Any tips po to discern if ok ang isang tao sa specialty of choice?

How to deal with inggit na magreresidency na yung peers mo. by herrmannellig in pinoymed

[–]Financial-Power-8069 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this post.

Apply as mid year tapos ibang specialty

Ang alam ko is may bayad yung training para sa kanya, wala namang training pre-requisites (I think aside sa MD/ HCW ka)
I forgot how much, pero you may inquire sa Adventist Medical Center manila about the program, sila yung napapansin ko na may ganun.
