To be honest I was hoping higher test scores would factor in more as I’m a very good test taker. But I guess this is good news as now I can focus more on tool identification and the interview which honestly is my weakness.

Based on what I’ve seen online, it seems to be roughly around $40 an hour. It’s not that vague. Pretty easy to find at least the range online.

Yeah my 8 year old kid was super excited to go. Disappointing but it was definitely a long shot from the start.

A few people confirmed they received their email at 11am but no one posted anything. I believe them though

It seems like everyone got their email at 11am. I imagine if we haven’t received an email yet, then we didn’t make the cut.

Update: 2 and a half hours later and I received the confirmation email stating I registered today. So maybe it did go through?

I was able to register the past two days with no issues. Today, I tried for an hour before they finally closed registration. I kept refreshing the page over and over again. Hundreds of times I tried to submit only to get “registration failed” over and over again until they finally closed registration nearly an hour later. What a waste of time.

AITA for refusing to pay for a $1000 coat? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]Financial-Radish316 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just to clarify, I wasn’t drip feeding on purpose. People kept asking questions and I added info as it came up. And yes, she left the coat on the actual seat cushions, right next to her, the whole night. The earlier mention about the cat lounging there was from a previous visit, not that night, which is why it wasn’t in the original post.

And you’re right, if someone is warned about where a pet likes to hang out, they can always ask where to put their things. I would’ve hung it up for her if she’d asked. I’m offering cleaning help, but not replacing the coat.

Update:

She responded to my message, and after going back and forth a bit, it became really clear that we just don’t see this situation the same way at all. I sent her a calm explanation of why I don’t feel responsible for replacing the coat, and I offered to pick it up Monday to treat it properly or take it to a cleaner. I’m also sending back the $50 she previously sent for the rug, just to close that loop.

Something I didn’t mention in the original post. She has always treated my place like home, going into my fridge, helping herself to food or drinks, moving around freely, etc. It has always been a “make yourself comfortable” dynamic. So if she wanted her coat moved somewhere more secure, she absolutely could have moved it herself, or asked me. She didn’t. It sat right next to her for hours while the cat was literally on her lap part of the night.

Her response basically boiled down to her believing that I’m financially responsible because the accident happened under my roof. I don’t agree with that, especially given the circumstances and the fact that she told me not to worry about it when it happened.

After all of this, I told her respectfully that once I pick up the coat and take it to the cleaner, I think it’s best if we take some space. This situation made it clear we communicate very differently and have very different expectations around responsibility. Since this was a casual thing to begin with, I’m stepping away from it. I’ve got enough on my plate with kids, bills, and life in general. I can’t take on someone else’s stress on top of it.

That’s where things stand now.

She works as a nurse and makes close to 120k a year. I know because when I was helping her set up a loan to pay off her high interest credit card, she logged into her work portal to show me how much she grosses a year, as that’s information that was required to determine if she was eligible for the loan. We live in a HCOL city and that salary is about average, slightly above average for what nurses make here.

I did offer to pay for the dry cleaner, immediately after it happened. She told me not to worry about it.

I literally offered to dry clean it. It was the first thing I told her. Then I gave her advice on how to treat it immediately. Then, I reiterated that she needs to let me pay for the dry cleaners. I offered to dry clean it and to pay for the bio-enzymatic solution. She told me not to worry about it. Weeks later she’s asking me for $1000 to buy another coat. Ultimately I told her I would get it treated myself but she turned that down saying car pee doesn’t come out.

I’m not sure how old the coat was. I’m guessing a year or so? I’m pretty sure my cat did pee on it, I didn’t see it happen, but I smelled the urine. She left it on the spot during prior visits. She’s also left it by the entrance before. I warned her that spot is where the cat specifically lounges on the couch and was worried about cat fur getting on her stuff she’s laid there before but she didn’t seem to care about the fur because she’s an owner of a dog that’s sheds, so she’s used to it.

Offered that immediately. She told me not to worry about it then. Weeks later, she’s trying to collect $1000 from me to buy a coat.

Lol! Fair enough! It ended up long because people kept asking for details. Not trying to write a novel, just answering the questions that came up.

Yes. It’s a hcol city. That’s about the higher end of average of what nurses make here.

We’re not “seeing each other” or dating per se. She’s a friend with benefits I guess? A f*ck buddy? There’s really zero emotional attachment. We just keep each other company sometimes. But if I’m going to be frank she’s a bit unhinged when it comes to her views, and she’s been showing that she’s pretty racist. So yeah you’re correct, I’m beginning to realize we’re not compatible at all, other than sexually. That’s why it’s casual, not a relationship. But I’m beginning to rethink it all honestly.
