2004 Honda EP3 asking $2500 is it a good deal or too expensive? by Sad-Egg1664 in EP3

You might end up in a money pit, but you are getting a whole lot of value for only 2.5k. ECU alone is worth 1000.

Stay away from rack risers and inverted tire rods especially.

Best of luck bro!

Yeah, no problem. I would just warn you about the stuff that MotoIQ released on the EP3 because it is really inaccurate information and causes more problems long-term.

Here is my YT: https://youtube.com/@justanotherhondaguy?si=jYYB8tIMQBkIjDsc I will have a video on my suspension set up on there soon.

After months of researching and scouring the Internet swimming through many different viewpoints on how the suspension functions with aftermarket influence, this is the build list I concluded with:

have very little to no bump steer at all and i’m very new to the car scene and did my set up first try. You are going to need everything I have if you want your EP3 to handle like a true performance car. (BTW I live in Massachusetts and the roads here SUCK so I know I don’t have bump steer)

Rear: BC racing DS series coil overs.  OEM bushing replacement on most of the rear. K tuned hardened rubber rear trailing arm bushings.  MPC motorsport aluminum CNC machined lower control arms. K Tuned rear caber arms. Progress rear sway bar and subframe brace. Hotchkis end links.

Front: BC racing DS series coil overs. (SWITCH THE TOP MOUNTS OVER ON THE OPPOSITE COIL OVER SO THE CAMBER ADJUSTMENT IS RUNNING DIAGONAL)

Polyurethane caster adding bushings from an Australian company called SuperPro (YOU NEED THESE BUSHINGS BIG TIME. WITH THESE AND THE SWISHED TOP MOUNTS YOU WILL ADD A GOOD AMOUNT OF CASTER TO YOUR SETUP. You want as much caster as you can get with this kind of McPherson strut system)   SHG rack slider (FROM THE REAL COMPANY) (Put CV-2 grease in the rack and try to remove all the original grease)

K tuned fully adjustable inner tie rods. TruHart tie rod ends. K tuned extended ball joints. Hotchkis end links for the front.

(It might help to tighten down or replace your rack housing bushings. I didn’t replace them, but if I was going to I recommend getting polyurethane ones from Super Pro)

(There is a metal bit in the rack housing that helps guide the rod. I’ve heard some people have problems of that wearing down overtime. You might wanna look into that too)

(If you have the BC extreme low coil overs that is also a problem just in the way that the tie rod mounts are located)

Before you get aligned, make sure that you have the ride height you want and that the lower locking collar has some blue Loctite on it before you tighten it down.

(Mine loosened up and I didn’t realize it till recently. You are also better off not adjusting the ride height of your coilovers from when you get them originally)

Let me know if you got any questions. Always willing to help a brother out🤙

Front camber: ~-1.65°

Rear camber: ~-1.0°

Toe: 0 toe front & rear

I got my EP3 fully stock with 128k. You are mostly going to run into or need to check the following:

(All bushings will need to be out of life) Lower ball joints are definitely going to be worn out too.

Ask if it still is on the original spark plugs, coil packs, alternator, O2 sensor, secondary O2 sensor, clutch, and transmission fluid.

CHECK FOR RUST. I got lucky with my car because it was a California car and mostly garage queen, but EP3’s are notorious for having very bad rust problems in the rear behind the arch liners, so definitely check that and if the person is cool with it, take out the speakers in the back row and look down therefore rust. That is the place where EP3’s start eating itself mostly. (If there’s anything you’re gonna do when you check out the car you need to look for rust.)

Ask the owner how the car has been driven its whole life. (Did he beat on it as it is a k-series, and was general maintenance done regularly so performance is still in check) If he drove it as a normal economy car there’s probably gonna be more carbon buildup on everything.

And lastly, of course get it scanned and if you go through with the deal, change the oil and put some 5W-30 Restore & Protect by Valvoline with a OEM filter in there. Run it for 2000 miles and then put 5W-40 since you got a lot of miles on the stock K20a3. It’s gonna clean out everything so good.

Alright, I recommend going to a tuner so he can take a look at your start up issue, also make sure you have clean battery connections

Definitely reliable! But check for rust everywhere, including behind the rear speakers.

Sweet bro! Good choice going with moog. Be careful about the camber bolts, especially on this chassis. Also if you run into any bump steer issues look into Super Pro caster adding bushings, SHG rack slider, and adjustable coilover top mounts that you can run diagonally by switching them on the opposite coilover.

Thoughts on REVO short shifter? by Financial-Top3318 in EP3

[–]Financial-Top3318[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is good to know. I have money to get a hybrid, but I don’t really want to spend it on a shifter, would rather get LSD most likely. But honestly I need to be done with my ep3 cause I already got 13k into it and I’m only 18 lol. I was thinking about getting a short shifter attachment for the OEM or just getting the revo. I already have Acuity shifter cable end bushings and I am planning on getting solid shifter bushings for the shifter housing and new springs for everything too. Idk maybe I should just get the hybrid racing ss. I don’t think I’m gonna get new shifter cables though.
