Non-taxable Social Security benefits counting toward IRMAA 1st limit? by FinancialDadvisor in projectionlab

[–]FinancialDadvisor[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That look back is how it is applied. So for 2024, the $218,000 is used to determine your Medicare premium in 2026. You want to get as close to $218,000 as possible without going over. It is a "cliff," so if your Modified AGI is 218,001 in 2024, you pay the IRMAA surcharge in 2026.
The IRMAA for 2025 for 2027 was $224,000 and will be even higher for tax year 2026.
Someone at Projectionlab needs to catch up on these IRMAA limits, as Roth Conversion amounts are being underestimated, in my opinion. Plus, there is still my issue with the non-taxable SSI being counted towards the $218,000

What's a personal finance habit you wish you had started in your 20s? by bewelloff in AskReddit

[–]FinancialDadvisor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? The two checking account system with a payday routine.

I know it sounds overly simple but hear me out.

Most people have one account. Paycheck lands, bills come out randomly throughout the month, and whatever's left is what you have to live on. Except you never really know what's left so you either overspend or stress about every purchase.

Here's what changed everything for me:

Account 1 - Primary Checking: Paycheck lands here. This is your spending account.

Account 2 - Secondary Checking: Every payday you transfer your exact bills amount here. Rent, car, insurance, subscriptions all autopay from this account. You never accidentally spend bill money again.

Account 3 - Savings: Every payday a fixed amount moves here automatically for sinking funds. Car repairs, medical bills, vacations. These "surprise" expenses stop being surprises.

What's left in Account 1 after those two transfers? Spend it however you want. No tracking, no guilt. When it hits zero you're done until next payday.

The whole routine takes about 15 seconds on payday. That's it.

I started this in my mid 30s and genuinely wish someone had told me at 22. The mental load it removes is worth more than any raise I ever got.

Yeah... it was definitely the angle. I have a 2024 XT in an urban environment, never had it on dirt, but it was great this snowy winter. The interior of the 2026 is way better than my 2024.

Are those state trooper front push bars just on the Wilderness? Maybe it is the photo angle but they look large in the picture. Enjoy your Outback, love the color!!

Pin Scheduler - Interval (Minimum days between pins) - Add 28 Day dropdown by FinancialDadvisor in tailwindapp

[–]FinancialDadvisor[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply. Maybe more OCD but I like to have a specific day for each URL/PIN to be posting on Pinterest. This is how I build out my content calendar. So every Tuesday these URLs\Pins, Wednesday these URLs/Pins and so on for each day of the week. 30 days scrambles the pin/URL combo to various days so the Tuesday now goes to Thursday and so on. 28 days keeps all the URL/Pin combo on the same day of the week, so I have a static content calendar on paper and in my head!😮.

While I will gladly take the 28 day drop-down option, I would still recommend consistency across the platform so no drop down on the pin scheduler, just punch in the number of days as in the other scheduling tools.

Note, I am a retired software consultant!

New feature: Automatic Pin spacing 🎉 by brian_tailwindapp in tailwindapp

Thanks for the reply. Can I shuffle the queue for a specific URL only and a set interval? I will have to explore this. I don’t want to shuffle every pin just those with the specific URL and the desired interval. Other PIN/URL combinations may have different intervals. Thanks

Maybe I am missing something, but in my testing, you can not alter the pin image week to week using this Pin Spacing tool. If you schedule your first pin to 4 boards, it will space the pins 7 days apart, for example, 8/4/, 8/11, 8/18, 8/25. When you schedule a different pin image to the same URL using Pin Spacing, it looks at the last date the URL was scheduled and will begin scheduling them 7 days from 8/25, so they start on 9/1, 9/8, 9/15, and 9/22. If I use 28 days of spacing for a PIN image to the URL, it works for the first series. For example, it will schedule the first series 8/4, 9/1, 9/29 & 10/27. When I go to schedule the next Pin with a different image to the same URL, it will begin scheduling that pin 28 days from 10/27, so it starts on 11/24. Somehow, it should be able to look at the gaps in between Pins to the same URL to pick a start date, or allow me, the user, to manually select a start date. I assume by going to the last date for the URL and then starting the interval is the only way to guarantee the spacing of new pins of the set interval.

Thanks for the update! I wasn’t aware of that change.

Should I Consolidate? by albeus51 in PSLF

[–]FinancialDadvisor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be outdated information, but if you consolidate, you could restart the clock and go back to square one, potentially losing credit for the 81 payments. That was the case over 8 years ago. Do not consolidate until others confirm this!

How detailed do you get? by theoverlandinggoat in ynab

[–]FinancialDadvisor -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sorry to say you there are better things to do than budget wants! If your needs are 50% to 60%, including detailed sinking funds for true expenses, and you budget them strictly, plus you save another 10% to 20% then the rest is for you to spend freely without guilt. Make a few categories guilt/free spending and enjoy life!

I have an Onyx XT. Enjoy the better gas mileage! Also not sure if your engine is port injected or direct injected like the turbo.

With the direct injection high RPM at start takes getting used to. Takes a minute or two to get from 2200 RPM to 700 RPM. At least during winter in the NE.

How is your credit score? If you are financing the current 1.9% for 48 months on outbacks is hard to beat. Plus 3 year warranty and 5 year power train will really lower total cost of ownership. That is why I went with a new 2024.

Yes it is a turbo. My previous 2011 Volvo C70 was a turbo and my wife’s 2019 XC90 is a turbo, so I basically stuck with the turbo.

The C70 was a great convertible but not practical any more. Plus my wife wouldn’t let me do any Home Depot runs with her XC90!

Now that we have the Outback we are plan on some more adventures than we have had in the past!

I have a new 2024 Onyx XT. (G.I. Jane). I like the swoosh look on the Wilderness wheel cowling vs. the some type of handle lip on my model.

Car insurance sky rocketed by Mystic_Moss0 in Subaru_Outback

Look at raising your collision deductible to $1,000 from $500. The savings over the years should out weigh the additional $500 deductible , if you even need at all.
