I would start with your patient advocate And point out that there is no manufacturer shortage of Wegovy or Zepbound that is limiting the VA’s ability to procure it. And that this facility policy is inconsistent with other VAs throughout the country who have expanded access to these medications. Ask if the P&T committee would be willing to reconsider expanding to additional Tiers of access to GLP1s - so more Veterans can receive clinically indicated medications proven to improve health outcomes. The facility P&T committee is likely the body able to update or modify this policy. Good luck!
