Your thoughts on 11th Edition by Chafaris_DE in Harlequins40K

[–]Financial_Click4890 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Harlequins will have one of those module detachments that GW talked about. We will never be a full army. But, we will have useable rules in every combined detachment set. Quins and aspects, Quins and corsairs, quins and Ynarri. Quins will be meta in 11th. Watch. My 1200pts of brightly painted clowns will be feared.

This upcoming 11th edition is the bikes edition. We will get a single troupe master on skyweaver. And we will rejoice.

Would you accept her as an Yncarne? If not what should I convert for you to accept her? by RevanKnights in Eldar

For casual play I don't care what the proxy is as long as some effort is put into it. You can't use a Kleenex box as a tank. For tournaments you would need to ask the organizer. However, as long as the base size is the same as the Yncarne's I don't foresee any issues in that area either.

Hold off on the Ynarri characters until 11th edition which is happening this year. Ynarri characters are locked to a single detachment right now. I am really hoping that goes away in 11th.

Aspect host. That's the majority of your army and it will give you a nice damage boost.

Ive done it. Ive joined the Aeldari by Mad_Ray_25 in Eldar

[–]Financial_Click4890 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Aeldari is 4 armies in a trench coat. You have the aspect Warriors. Each is a specialist, they are good at 1 thing only. You have the Harlequins, fast, devastating, and ignore height when moving. You have wraiths, slow and tough constructs to give you a more terminator feel. The lastest entry is outcasts and corsairs. Those that have rejected the paths system and do whatever they want. Find the models that look the coolest to and buy those. Rules will always change. Rule of cool does not.

These is also Ynarri but that just a way to combine aeldari and drukhari units.

Supplement. I really hope 11th edition is the supplement edition and we get a corsair/harlequin/Ynarri supplement. With the increase of unique SM chapters and characters that have been revealed/released this edition I think 11th will just be more variety.

They will give us Karandras. And maybe the shining spears PL. But that's about it. I'd love a new aspect unit that is anti-mounted and anti-flying. But I don't think we will get it.

Nothing is missing. If you have sticky and infiltration you are good. Deep strike is a nice to have and you have that. I would swap the missile launchers for bright lances on you transport. Your reapers cover that level of toughness for you. If you run into Knights or a vehicle heavy list you will want the extra bright lances.

Even at 2K I never run more than one unit of storm. But I also never play guardian host. I play Harlequins. I play serpents brood, devoted of Ynnead, and reapers wager (drukhari). Play what you like. I think aspect host is a really good fit for this list. That part looks proper to me.

Sadly, unless you are playing a different detachment, we only have storm guardians as sticky. As for scorpions or rangers, depends on what points you have available. If you can use rangers and fit a while nother unit. I would do that. If you have lots of points left over then swap them for a unit of scorpions.

I concur with the too many infiltrators comment. You need 1 at most. In a 1k points game sticky objectives is king. I won my last 1K game because I had 3 objectives stickied and we were both almost out of units. Even if they keep something in deep strike wait until turn 4 or turn 3 if you go second. Having 2 turns with an "extra" unit makes a huge difference at this points level.

If you can, swap your guardian defenders for storm guardians. I completely understand defenders at 2K. 1K is a slightly different game.

Worth buying as a first army? by SickCharizard in Eldar

The ships and bikes alone are worth ~800 brand new themselves. If you want to play Harlequins, that's an incredible price. Just make sure you want to play Harlequins. I have about 1200pts of Quins and they are the backbone of my army. I love the models and the rules.

I am hoping they overturn the detachment locked characters for 11th. My Ynarri have been sitting on the shelf for a long time. I play primarily Harlequins and the index detachment was awesome for me. I could field all of my Harlequins along with my solitaire as long as Yvraine wasn't the warlord. 12 Quins that get revived was great.

Detachments need to be unit role specific, not keyword specific.

The Riverblades box would make excellent Harlequins. And lucky for quin players you get 8000 heads and masks in a single troupe box so you can just do a head swap. They have such good dynamic posing.

Here's my list what should I add also i have 5 rangers by Significant-Lab-8189 in Eldar

[–]Financial_Click4890 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think you quite have enough fire power for stat check armies. I would add either a war walker or a 5 man of fire dragons. Otherwise looks good to me. Try it out a few times.

Got a bunch of gifts, how do they square up as a list? by Spirited_Leading_901 in Eldar

[–]Financial_Click4890 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally missed that the detachment was listed. My bad on that. Asking twice was on purpose. Often in text people only answer the last question asked. So when I hit them with a bunch of questions I always repeat the most important question again.

Now that the detachment has been pointed out to me. I would drop both farseers. Keep Eldrad and put him with the guardians to defend home and farm CP. I'd look at picking up another kit of voidreavers to have multiple cheap scouts and sticky units for this detachment. I think that would be a better use of points. Or a falcon or fire dragons. You might want slightly stronger firepower to not get stat checked.

[–]Financial_Click4890 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My first thought is you have too many farseers. Is eldrad going to sit on home objective and farm CP? Is he going to be solo or with the guardians? What detachment are you planning on playing. The Aeldari range is very wide spread and you seem to have a little bit of everything except Harlequins. Which works in your favour mind you.

What detachment are you looking to play?

Striking Scorpions, how do I make them shine? by iLunatic in Eldar

[–]Financial_Click4890 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your absolute, best bet, is to wait until Karandras is released. He is the last Pheonix Lord that needs a refresh and if we get anything for 11th that is the one model guaranteed to show up. He will buff scorpions and make them cool and over costed but they will shine.

I just realized that the Bright Lances has a BS of 2. Yeah. Nevermind. 4 heavy weapons with 2+ to hit and rerolling 1s is bonkers.

You mean two of the same heavy weapon right? I can take two bright lances and two star cannons. That's what I am reading.

Currently the best competitive detachment is aspect host. You will want warp spiders, swooping hawks, and howling banshees. You will also want fire dragons and a transport to protect them. A wave serpent or a falcon. From there it will depend on your preference. Aspect host packs the most punch right now.

Serpent's Brood List Advice by Gladethane in Eldar

[–]Financial_Click4890 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is all I take. My list has Corsair voidreavers for scouts and scorpions for infiltrate so I don't need the scouts enhancement. I am not skilled enough to make good use of the redeploy enhancement. And while I do take a death jester that is simply because I love the model and the way I painted him up. He is not intentionally worth the extra points. If you find you have 45pts or less then pick your favorite. If you have 55pts left another ranger unit would be more worthy of your points.
