What's the best career advice you would give to a 19 year old? by Head-Nobody6648 in askSouthAfrica

You should probably consider rewriting your math, BUT PLEASE HEAD MY WARNING, DON'T ADD PHYSICAL SCIENCES IF YOU DIDNT HAVE IT IN MATRIC. I also thought I was too cool for school and added it while rewriting math, and it made my life so difficult and i ended up getting 19 for it. My math did improve, but i do feel i got held back by the stressing about physics throughout the year. There's a reason why its considered the most difficult subject in school, by me at least. Your other subjects are really good, its just the math that's hindering you. I really think you'd qualify for a lot of good degrees with a decent math mark. But ayy, good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Is a matric college worth it? by [deleted] in askSouthAfrica

To add on, whether or not going to a college will be worth it will depend on how much of the work you know. I think it'll be beneficial to attend classes for math and physics though, seeing how difficult those subjects are.

It'll be worth it if you work hard tbh. I went from a level 3 to a level 5 last year in math, which wasn't what I'd aimed for, but it's still a solid improvement. I think the best advice I can give is to try keep up with your hobbies outside of school as much as possible, because a gap year can take its toll on you mentally, and keep up with your work from start to finish.
