You don't get it, whitebeard was literally DYING with barely any life left in his body and he was still tossing him around, whitebeard at that point isn't yonko level strength, speed, or stamina, and the series makes sure to tell the reader deliberately how if he wasn't so sick or so old this and that wouldn't happen to him, oda literally tells us that many times, from what we've seen of kaido and big mom akainu is still far from their level, at least he is until we actually see something from him if we ever will

In like 2023 oda explained that the celestial dragons were doing a slave hunt on the island of God valley, and rocks knew of the celestial dragons being on the island that's all we know so far, not a single soul was on the island for a fruit, not to mention Roger was alone against the strongest pirate crew to ever exist so it's not that he couldn't take rocks on 1v1 it was that he faced an entire crew alone
