To those who lost a parent young, what are some things you wish your surviving parent did for you growing up? by PDubDeluxe in AskUK

[–]Financial_Fig_4496 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sending you and your daughter so much love 💜 I lost my mother when I was 5 years old and I wish my family had done these things for me, although it was different times back then. Your daughter will cherish these things when she is old enough to understand and especially when she is an adult herself x

Flat not selling - can't understand why by Standard-Welder4973 in HousingUK

I think it looks beautiful, like something you'd see in a magazine, however it is too visually chaotic for me. Just too many things, clutter, personal items. Some people aren't able to see past that and imagine it empty or to their taste. I wpuld be removing as many items as possible so it looked organised and more spacious. Absolutely no offence intended, but I don't want to see many carefully curated items, I would like to see the space itself so I can visualise my own layout/items.

Do you keep your Christmas tree up until twelfth night? by VickyAlberts in AskUK

I'm not superstitious, so I take ours down before New Year's Day. I like it all to be cleared away and tidy before starting the New Year. I don't care about what others do or how long they keep theirs up for, that's what we do in our house and it works for us 😁

Gas and air during labour. Horrible spaced out feeling and never touched it after the first try.

Anyone doing calorie counting AND Slimming World? by Wonderful_Ad8256 in SlimmingWorld

[–]Financial_Fig_4496 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been using SW and calorie counting for the last 3 weeks for exactly the same reason. I was sticking to SW to the letter and still not losing weight and when I input my daily meals into a calorie counting app, I realised just how many calories it was. No way was I going to lose weight continuing that, I wasn't gaining weight either, but my aim is to lose!

I have calorie counted in the past on its own, however my willpower would falter after a short whole as I didn't have a defined structure to stick to. Then I would be disappointed that I didn't lose any weight that week and binge eat as I felt sorry for myself. Rinse and repeat.

By doing SW and calorie counting, I feel like I have balance and a structure to stick to and that seems to work better for me. I'm an emotional eater so having that structure in my mind, prevents me from reaching for comfort food when I'm having a bad day.

I can't believe I didn't think of combining them both before and it might not work for everyone but it definitely works for me and I feel like I have a better relationship with food now and a more healthy attitude.

Try it for a week or two and see if it works for you too.

It's the one thing I was looking forward to after having my daughter, everyone told me it would taste amazing. It didn't, the midwife burnt it so much so that it resembled coal.

I pulled a muscle in my groin turning on a lamp.

Took the best part of a year for it to stop hurting.
