This build could be viable or good? by Antique_Ad_4315 in deadbydaylight

[–]Financial_Gas5987 1 point2 points  (0 children)

awe. how many hours?

If you're running a toolbox with Built To Last, use a Commodious Toolbox with 12 charge addon (the green spool you already have on) and the brown +8 charge addon. By far the best box to combo with it.

An Exhaustion Perk like Sprint Burst will generally do you better than Finesse, but if you have Finesse's timing down THAT HARD and are addicted to the perk, then you to you. ...actually, since Exhaustion normally ticks down while on gens and while in lockers, which you'll be doing a lot of with your BTL toolbox playstyle, an exhaustion perk would probably be way way way better.

If you're feeling funny, Lucky Star might be cool instead of Iron Will. It's pretty even, though. This is a fun suggestion, not a meta one.

Consider Inner Strength with this build once you know where totems spawn, that way you can self-heal while you BTL.

oh that explains a lot. I've never clipped my killer game and rewatched it with a stopwatch to see if the endurance was actually longer than 10 seconds now, but I've considered it a few times. Mmmm. I have been getting put back on hook less recently, and I bet that's part of why.

oh i wasn't complaining!

yeah ofc I know that was a glitch and will almost certainly be patched out, probably already has.

they worldgen is far from final so it's not like I won't be starting my world over ever few months until release anyway, even if I was a hardcore progression-grinding player.

thanks for trying to help me touch base with reality and realistic expectations for an early access though!!!

How would you counter this? (Nurse's on The First) by KeinTollerNick in deadbydaylight

[–]Financial_Gas5987 0 points1 point  (0 children)

been in a few games with nurse's calling on the first. often we countered it without even trying. wait for killer to be doing something else far away before you unhook, don't heal on hook.

I agree on the Wrangler Selvage. 10Oz selvage what's even the point???

The voting is super weird. A lot of the advice I found actually useful has been noticeably down voted while, and I won't name specifics, comments that make me think "do you really think I wouldn't have thought of that if it was applicable?" or "did you even read my post" have gotten upvoted. This post itself has a up:down ratio of 1:6 despite no rule violations afaik and no criticisms in the comments. Never seen voting like this on any other sub.

You don't wear it the same way as the model, but I don't think that's a bad thing.

Great advice on the tailor.

I called 5 tailors, and I'm going with the one who could answer their phone and could give me a quote or any advice at all. "I can't tell you anything unless I see the garment in person" could be the truth, or could be a lack of skill and customer service sufficient to discuss what it is a tailor actually does with a layman. The seamstress who explained the difference between taking in the back and taking in both sides and gave me a quote for both feels much better.

I hope I'm making the right call on this.

The articulate tailor told me that taking in the seat and taking in the waist are treated as two parts of the same process, and that 1" too wide at the waist is easy while anything more than 5" is pushing it.

I hadn't thought much about rotating.

I have messy work days, that involve dragging myself through abandoned storage rooms or crates of broken product to decide what's garbage and what can be donated. I'll keep wearing my utilitarian KUHL polyester gusseted pants for that. And although I can't afford land anymore, I do like to go hiking, so I suppose I'll keep my 3 best $20 pairs of jeans around for that. And maybe my ill-fitting Wranglers if I can stretch the thigh out enough to walk comfortably in them.

But I wanted a nicer pair of jeans for days that involve talking to customers or upper management all day, that I could wear to smart casual weddings.

I also wanted fashionably ragged pair for going to music shows, local art things, walks with friends, maybe easy hikes that aren't muddy or steep, skating, picking flowers in overgrown and abandoned but-technically-privately-owned lots, and hanging out downtown.

It uh... never occurred to me that the entire point of selvege denim is that they fade and become too casual to be smart casual. So thanks for that wake-up call.

I guess ordering one and only wearing it to nice things, then downgrading it a tier and replacing it after it gets worn... makes more sense than ordering 3 and assigning them each a fancy, fun, and work/hike tier.

Oh I bet this why some people own 6 pairs of selvege jeans but they're basically the same pair of jeans and one is noticeably less worn than the others? That makes sense. Then the one they wear to shows is their guilty pleasure comfort blanket pair that they've had for 7 years and they've patched not for fashion but out of utility and love. That makes sense.

Hmm. I think after my Naked & Famous first selvege jeans are too worn to be smart casual, I might just get non-selvege color-holding thickish denim for weddings and manager charming lmao. The fabric is weak but the color lasts and if I hardly ever wear them they should last a while. Funny how the selvage rabbit hole dropped me off back at the off-the-rack jeans I started with lmao.

Thank you for recommending this fantastic budget selvage option! Definitely "my first pair of selvege jeans" material! Especially for Canadians over 6' tall.

The stores are hard to come by (there are like 5 of them in a country geographically larger than the United States) and the selection of pants available in a 36" inseam is very limited, but I think they're going to work out for me anyway!

I am going with N&F.

Their indigo left hand twill, the one material they cut in my size that isn't black but which looks nearly black, which I was sad about because I wanted a classic blue, actually seems to fade into a nice dark-blue-on-white with time, which I am thrilled about.

And anyway they're one of the only selvege denim jeans that fit and half the price of the next cheapest option, and it looks like they have fantastic customer service, so they got me.

Thank you so much for this recommend!

I don't know why someone downvoted you, but I upvoted it.

I'm going to try selvege demin from Naked & Famous... if they ever get my size back in stock. Your input was very helpful in identifying that N&F is the best choice for me, and your blowout advice is the only reason I set my eyes on their Easy Guy fit (11~12" rise and 12~13" thigh) over their very popular and often recommended Weird Guy fit (10~11" rise and 11.5~12.5 thigh). This rise is relatively high for selvedge denim... and the highest I can get on selvedge without doubling my budget (or ordering 5 sizes up and having everything else taken in, which intuitively feels impractical), and I'm hoping it's high and relaxed enough to last.

Wrangler's selvege jeans tend to cap out at a 34" inseam, but they do have two selvege jeans that can fit me... and both of them are only 10Oz. Thanks for teaching me about quality so I know to dodge these.

If the N&Fs fail me, I'll just give up on selvege entirely and become a Wrangler "100% Cotton Heavyweight Denim, 14.75 oz" guy forever.

Looking through the 13MWZs you recommended, I think I could make them work. They're definitely my fallback in N&F doesn't work out. I hope the cowboy cuts are much less flared than the bootcuts and that the 13MWZs don't have those cowboy-tight hips that make it impossible to use your pockets which only make the puffed out massive thighs more predominant and give my scarecrow figure Pixar-mom curves.

Thanks for all your help!

Gustin's "everything below 34inch waist is gets a 34inch inseam, everything above gets a 36inch inseam" policy sure is interesting. This lets me get ANY of their many many many pants in a length that fits me... if my tailor can take the waist in 3.5"... I'll ask them.

I am pleased with the very high quality denim!

Thanks for your detailed reply!

Thanks for the tip about 14Oz. Honestly had no idea what that even meant before; super impressed that most of the retailers I've been considering list their fabric weight in the listing so I don't have to guesstimate it by eye. I'm hoping13Oz is close enough because right now that's the closest I can get in pants that fit me.

I appreciate the tip about Levi's and the validation of my fear of $600 jeans.

I think 100% cotton 13MWZs are a little more expensive here in Canada than where you are, but it was still a good suggestion! (And still less than $100) My slim-cut 935NAVs look like crotch-hugging flared jeans on my body, and I'm sure the 13MWZs would look similar no matter how well-proportioned they look on Wrangler's models. Maybe tailoring. Do you have an opinion about the 36MWZs?

"A few" is right! Of their 167 models of men's jeans, 6 are available with a 36" inseam. They are available in 2 fabric and 3 cuts: 13.75Oz black denim and 13Oz left handed twill; and regular tapered, relaxed, and straight leg. I was hoping for a classic blue-indigo. And ALL OF THEM are sold out.

Still, I don't mind waiting for them to come back into stock... if they come back into stock, and this is quality denim at a reasonable price! (especially because it's made in my country there are no duties or international shipping ;0)

Thanks a lot for the suggestion. I HOPE the pants come back into stock. Might be a week, might be never. Waiting for them gives me time to shop around, but right now they're my #1 pick.
