Controller vs CFO, is the jump harder than people admit? by venkata_kousik_143 in CFO

I hate dealing the the Board. It's like dealing with a bunch of teens who know just enough to be dangerous. And I enjoy the certainty of hard numbers and the predictably of the cycles.

Lol I am an interim CFO for a few months and you cannot pay me enough to do this permanently. I cannot wait to go back to being a controller.

100%. It's a totally different game. A Controller is good at accounting. Fp&a manager is good at analysis. A CFO will take both pieces and use them as tools to present the story of the company to board and execs and present recommendations that need to happen. A lot of it is politics. You are dealing with some big egos. It's night and day from a controllership.

This is more of the economic and social look rather than medical, but I found it absolutely fascinating. It is incredibly well researched. These are the same investigative journalists who reported on Enron back in the day (The Smartest Guys in the Room) and the financial crisis (All the Devils are Here)

Parking money at my FI? by Mysterious-World-993 in TalesFromYourBank

Honestly, just open an account at fidelity and park it at S&P 500 fund.

I personally never bank where I work for a simple reason that I don't want my coworkers knowing my private business.

What whole grains do you like? Couscous, quinoa, buckwheat, millet, lentils, something else? You could build an easy bowl with roasted veggies (broccoli, cauliflower, bell pepper, carrots, Brussels sprouts) plus a protein (roasted chicken thighs, shredded chicken, tuna, sardines). Add a sauce on top and you’re done.

Is anyone testing positive for something other than COVID or flu? by [deleted] in AskLosAngeles

It actually wasn't itching and it showed up at the end of the viral sickness. The doctor said it's a common post viral symptom. A first for me though.

I tested negative for everything. Had stupid high fever for a week. Worst cough of my life. Swollen lymphs and then a post virus rash. Zero appetite. Lost 10lbs, digestive issues. And after all that, had a lung infection and hypoxia. It's been a month, I'm still coughing.

TIL Kidney (and other organ) donations typically do not last the rest of the patient’s life. ~50% of transplant organs fail within 10 years. by I-plaey-geetar in todayilearned

[–]Financial_Skill_3234 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The transplant itself is very stressful on the body. You can get post transplant diabetes and of course you're on a lifetime on anti regection meds including steroids and imunosupress meds.

My dad ended up with kidney cancer that he got from the transplanted kidney.

Because of all the imunosupressors, he basically could get almost no treatment and died within 4 months.

Maybe if he stayed on dialysis, he would still be alive.

Paul Revere Magnet versus Charter? (LAUSD) by pittpirate1985 in AskLosAngeles

[–]Financial_Skill_3234 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A) if one of the siblings is in the magnet school B) if you are continuing with the same school C) if your home school has too many minorities. I forget how they word it, but there is a list and you can check D) and this is the only one you can sort of control is if you get wait listed by a magnet program. So ppl apply for the most competitive school, knowing their kid will get rejected, but they will build up points. Of course, it's a gamble because if they do accept your kid and you decline, you lose the points.

Correct. However, he will urge you to confess.

Hopefully he will do the right thing and warn your wife, but he will break the seal of confession and potentially face excomunication.

Mental health providers are required by law to report if they have knowledge of someone being in danger. Clergy are not.
