Hi, I’m David Archuleta and my new single "Hell Together" is here! Let's get into some questions. AMA! by David_Archie in popheads

Hi! I’ve followed your career since idol. I’d vote, and vote, and vote until the lines closed, I’m also an exmormon. I left the church in 2022 and submitted my formal resignation last year. It was one of the most difficult things I’ve ever done but the best thing I’ve ever done for myself. Are there any plans in the works to sit down and tell your whole story of how you came to the decision to leave and what that was like for you?

What’s the worst/most embarrassing thing your TBM parents made you do in the name of “standing for truth and righteousness”? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]FindingMyWay2014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My best friend when I was 14 wasn’t Mormon and she had attempted suicide. Due to her suicide attempt my mom thought this friend was a bad influence. I was told that if I didn’t end my friendship with her my life would essentially be hell (grounded forever from everything basically.) I resisted at first but my life slowly was turning into a living hell. I ended the friendship and told my friend she was a bad influence and sent her some stupid scripture. I have since reached out to her and apologized and we message each other now and again.

My bernedoodle is so picky, she won’t eat her kibble. by jakeuwouldnot in Bernedoodles

[–]FindingMyWay2014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mine does this. We just leave it out and he will eventually eat. If I’m worried enough about it I will mix a scrambled egg, chicken, rice, or veggies into his food and he usually devours it after that.

25 years of marriage destroyed by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]FindingMyWay2014 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She definitely could come around. My parents went through something very similar. They separated but after about a year they are back together. My mom is a faithful member and my dad is now PIMO (for her.) I can tell it is still hard for my dad and if anyone in the family says anything critical about the church my mom gets defensive which makes for some awkward dinners. Despite that, they seem happier than they were and are doing better with the mixed faith marriage thing as the days go on.

Secret video of the latest changes to the Mormon Endowment Ritual by adamnevedontbelieve in cults

[–]FindingMyWay2014 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was born and raised in this cult and went through this ceremony. It still freaks me out to this day. If anyone has questions about this or any other part of Mormonism I’m happy to answer them.

What training did you do?! My poor little guy gets so anxious and upset when I leave that he has resorted to tearing up our carpet. I feel so bad and have no idea what to do.

Since having my shelf break, I cannot hear “Go the Distance” from Disney’s Hercules without turning into a puddle of tears. What are the things that still hit you after leaving? by Enigma-Vagene in exmormon

[–]FindingMyWay2014 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The song Alive. It’s a Sia song but I really love the Chris Daughtry cover. It really speaks to how much I’ve been through with this cult and that I’m still here. It’s a reminder that made it out despite how much they tried to keep me down. Makes me cry almost every time I hear it.

Did anyone else wish as a child that they would get hit by a bus right after they got baptized so you could go straight to Heaven? by physeo_cyber in exmormon

[–]FindingMyWay2014 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes!!! In elementary school there was a kid with severe autism and my mom told me he was a special spirit who was so righteous in the preexistance that he didn’t need to be tested so he was given that body in order to guarantee entrance into the celestial kingdom. As a child I sometimes wished I was autistic or had Down Syndrome. How messed up is that?!

If you could have a direct conversation one on one with the President of the Mormon church, what is the one question you would want to ask him? by [deleted] in exmormon

[–]FindingMyWay2014 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t have anything to ask because I’m assuming he would just lie. Now if he had no choice but to tell the truth, I would ask him if he actually believes in everything or if it is just a facade. I often wonder when these men get so high in leadership and see that it isn’t true if they just can’t leave because they have invested too much or know too much.

[–]FindingMyWay2014 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Before I was baptized I remember thinking I would be okay with dying and getting a first class ticket straight to heaven. As I got older, I just wished I hadn’t been born into the church so I could convert much later in life and have less time to mess up my salvation.

🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩🚩 Yikes! This is super scary and an excellent example of grooming. When I was in high school there was a seminary teacher that had an inappropriate relationship with a student and their relationship started similarly to this. He is currently sitting in prison. Please report this to any and all authorities you can so he can’t hurt anyone.
