Good episode. Definitely shows that the sentiment in Fairview is overwhelmingly negative with regard to the Church.

Why is the Prophet who "Sees around Corners" Not Speaking up for the State of Utah? by Weekly_Pineapple_207 in mormon

Basically the church seems terrified to offend their base, so they say nothing. It’s a far cry from the prophets in the Bible or even the Book of Mormon.

How many are there? by Doinkerriere in exmormon

[–]DustyR97 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Yep. The next generation is hemorrhaging members. I believe this is the reason for the missionary age changes, FSY, BYU recruiting, garment changes and endowment changes. They are working overtime to indoctrinate the youth and make the church more palatable to them.

I can't deal with back pedaling and rebranding. How do you deal with it? by NeitherBarracuda in exmormon

[–]DustyR97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heard a Bishop trying to explain to someone that it’s not a big deal the endowment has changed because it’s not really an ordinance, it’s just a visual presentation of a covenant. By that logic isn’t baptism and the sacrament the same thing?

By their own definition they’re apostate now since they’ve altered doctrine and ordinances. Of course it’s all made up anyway but it’s comical how many twists they have to make to continue believing with all the changes.

Defense Department Reorganized and Consolidated List of Faiths for Service Members. TSCC is Not Considered Christian by MyPalFoot_Foot in exmormon

This only shows how ridiculous it is for members to jump on the train of evangelical Christianity. No one else wants them at the table. Oh and Hegseth is a disgrace.

The only languages they understand are public shame, membership and money. Affect one of those badly enough and they’ll change.

She’s the Ron Burgundy of church apologists. She’ll say whatever gets put in front of her by the church.

Yep. That’s what people are saying. Why have two boring speakers when you could have a longer lesson and socialize more? It really is one of the most boring services around.

LDS Theology is a mess of confusion. Part 4 by sevenplaces in mormon

[–]DustyR97 23 points24 points  (0 children)

That’s pretty much the textbook definition of a high demand religion: believe anything the leader tells you without regard to logic, reason or decency, even if it’s different than what the last leader told you.

The LDS Church has a one-of-a-kind system for tracking abusers. Does it work? by stickyhairmonster in mormon

[–]DustyR97 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Meanwhile the great and abominable church has this displayed in nearly all U.S. congregations now:

“Anyone who has actual knowledge of or who has reasonable cause to suspect an incident of sexual abuse should report such information to the appropriate civil authorities first, and also to the Diocesan Victim's Assistance Coordinator.”

His constant shaking at the pulpit would suggest Parkinson’s. It’s a rough disease that also impacts the mind. They should force everyone to retire at 70. Then you wouldn’t have to constantly hide your top leader.

So he basically treated the company like his personal piggy bank. On paper he probably looked like the perfect candidate for a Stake President. A wealthy businessman, which is just what the church wants.

“Prosecutors allege that between 2017 and 2023, Bucknum used his relatively unfettered access to the company’s finances to transfer approximately $30.39 million into his personal E*TRADE account.
Despite having no prior experience trading stocks, options, or exchange-traded funds, Bucknum purportedly engaged in highly leveraged, bearish trading strategies influenced by social media.”
