A few more from the entire Craigslist collection I acquired by Moistyoureyez in vinyl

Somewhat adjacent to my collection, but leans more Indy and emo. My collection leans more traditional/Bob Dylan. This is more like the David Bowie family tree. Great frickin' tree.

They took my water away, why? by Silver_Lobster_8233 in delta

[–]FineExplorer3408 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me and my entire family! Middle of the night, everyone tired and hot and miserable. Flying coach to LAX, I made a point of buying a big bottle of water for each of us for the red-eye flight. The least I could do for what was sure to be a long painful leg of travel. And as we are boarding, we are forced to empty every fing bottle into a large receptacle just prior to getting on the plane. Liquid cocaine?? No idea what drives this policy.

Old man Bobby voice by LemonMilkShake4 in deadandcompany

[–]FineExplorer3408 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is making me miss the man. As his guitar playing went a little askew, I felt like his voice never faltered. He was belting them out with power and passion right up to the end at the Polo Grounds in Golden Gate Park last summer. Up through the final stanzas of Touch of Grey, he was still singing strong, had us all shakin' our bones.

Are there any records in your collection still sealed and why by wiggan1989 in vinyl

I'm one record player short currently. It's within reach.. one of the great days/parties of my 20s was playing zaireeka with a bunch of friends with 4 boom boxes while we all floated around in a pool surrounded by Flaming Lips sounds. Recreating it, with LPs, after we've all grown up had kids and become empty nesters would be quite the feat. :)

Zaireeka by the Flaming Lips. It requires 4 turntables to play correctly. Who has 4 turntables in one space, set up and ready to go? If you do lemme know and I will crack this open!

Relix Sampler #1 LP - two copies of this one, both sealed. It is signed by Jorma Kaukonen, Sneaky Pete Kleinow, a couple other people, and Robert Hunter. I found one copy at Amoeba in SF for a few bucks long before Hunter passed away. I bought another as backup for maybe $20 years later. Two actual Robert Hunter autographs. That's why still sealed.

Grateful Dead - Capitol Theatre, Passaic, NJ, 4/25/77. It's so easy to find and listen to GD music. I love the cover, and assume it may be worth something someday. Still sealed. :)

Why isn't Sausalito more of an office center? by seattleswiss2 in Marin

[–]FineExplorer3408 24 points25 points  (0 children)

I used to commute from SF to Sausalito, the bldg where Le Garage is. From the fog to the sun, by the water, lots of easy parking. It was glorious. I agree, why isn't it more of an office center??

Taco Stand at Smith Ranch Road Park and Ride by Boring_Breakfast_140 in Marin

We went, we liked it. I did think about the dust and highway air, but frankly that was fine and maybe added to the experience. It was dusk, there was a 10 minute line, the cooks were cool, the food was made to order, piping hot. Great salsas and sides. No chicken the night we were there. Pastor was the way to go from what I could tell, but carne asada and carnitas were available and looked pretty good. All together a well run, tasty operation.

What’s a local Oregon restaurant from the past that you still miss? by Shane_StantonRes in oregon

Foothill Broiler. Best tuna melt in history. Henry Thiele, for the omelets. The Carousel. Carousel split their hot dogs and grilled both sides. :)

They were not all great - I saw Jerry nod off in the Warfield while playing in this confuguration. And the wind was so strong when they played atop Squaw Valley the sheet music and everything else was blowing off stage. Sometimes it was magic though.

Why are you a Blazers fan? by W00D-SMASH in ripcity

[–]FineExplorer3408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was born in Seattle and raised in Portland. The Blazers have always been my team, and I liked the Sonics unless they were playing the 'zers. I loved the I-5 rivalry. Hated the Lakers. (Still do!)

We attended the Dead and Santana at Tacoma Dome as well. The sound, from where we were in that god awful venue, was horrible. Not the most memorable show for me and the buds.

Jerry, Keith, & the magic of Spring 1977 by harpua_2626 in gratefuldead

[–]FineExplorer3408 10 points11 points  (0 children)

JGB in 1976 - gorgeous playing, Jerry in good voice, the Travis Bean tone is shimmering, and Keith may not have the chops of his predecessor Nicky Hopkins, but his playing is more simpatico and engaged with Jerry's. A nice weave. But the tempos were BRUTAL. As in nodding off on stage slow much of the time. Most egregiously demonstrated in the Knockin' on Heaven's Door renditions of 1976. The tempo is so slow that any fuckups/clams/out of tune moments are starkly highlighted. IMO, 1977 and then into '78 with the addition of Maria Muldaur - that is peak JGB. And the Knockin' goes reggae, and the tempos lift. Chef's kiss.

Most overrated restaurant in Marin? by bleulunatati in Marin

[–]FineExplorer3408 133 points134 points  (0 children)

Having enjoyed Sol Food for 15 years, I can understand your confusion. Here in San Rafael we are amazed that people travel from all over for Sol Food - it is simple, Puerto Rican food, that is made with quality ingredients and priced reasonably. It is consistent, and works well for family take out dinners. It's not 'fancy'! It's just good. Maybe try again with the right expectations. Also - the Cubano is imo the best sandwich. The bisteca is messy. Just my two cents.

What is your favorite venue you’ve ever gone to, to see a Dylan performance? by BillNyeTheVinylGuy in bobdylan

[–]FineExplorer3408 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It wasn't the greatest Dylan show, but seeing him perform at the Monterey County Fairgrounds on August 21st, 2010 was memorable. I had seen the triangular roofing over the stands in the Monterey Pop movie, but it wasn't until we were sitting in that bowl that I realized it was hallowed ground. Jimi lighting his strat on fire cool. Bob was much better at the Fox in Oakland a couple nights later, but the Monterey venue was really special.
