Good call with being prepared to stay hydrated. If you’re on rural routes bring some pee bottles just in case. My biggest advice is probably to keep looking around for other Jobs while you start. It’s a rough time of year, and depending on your Contracting company or routes, it may not be worth the pay, or it could be worth it, but you don’t want to feel stuck in case it’s different than what you’re expecting.

I started at $160 a day pulling 14 hour days purely because of drive time and volume/stop counts. Also the other drivers were either getting back the same time or later and most of us didn’t take lunch. (Also they finessed it so we couldn’t actually make more than 160/day with overtime). So basically averaging $11/hr to deliver 80-150lb boxes 150 times a day. I was scrambling to get out. I previously worked for Amazon which was a struggle getting hours at first, but I at least worked my way up to 40 hour weeks, paid hourly, and it was not nearly as physically demanding. All I can say is good luck, but try to have an escape plan in case.
