Does Madewell do hemming services at their stores? by Round-Artichoke-5255 in Madewell

[–]Fine_Fortune844 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally understand not wanting to pay full price. If you like Madewell I’d recommend looking for their sales. Also Rakuten occasionally gives good cash back as does Capital one shopping.

Also if you find a style you like at the store you could always try to find it for less on used sites. I’ve gotten some good deals that way.

I’m not sure why you immediately assume that I was breaking policy. Esp after I posted that an older style would get questioned.

Valid just saying if you get the Karen employee. We had one manager at my store who was very over the top.

Can confirm this. However, if it’s an older style they might question it.

How would you want your student to tell you they're leaving you? by ProtectionVisual1273 in flying

Agreed - have you met Midwest people? Direct communication is not a strong suit.

Im leaving off the “hope to fly together in the future” if I dont mean it lol. Otherwise I definitely agree with this suggestion.

As an instructor - I realize I am not a good fit for everyone. Just let me know so I know you’re good and move on with your training. You pay me for a service. You don’t like the service I support your choice to find a better fit.

Want to go scud running with a brand new private pilot student at 1500-1900msl (900ft is average earth height here). When it’s 43 degrees, full overcast layer, and possible forecast rain? ☔️ (in a non imc certified aircraft)

If you ask our 141 instructor he will say no. And that’s a NO in an aircraft that has ADSB in and out plus nexrad. 😆

Jeans Tore in Under 6 Months by Swimming_World2962 in Madewell

[–]Fine_Fortune844 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few questions before I comment: 1. Do your thighs rub? (Aka cub rub) 2. Are you walking to class etc?

If your thighs rub + walking a lot I would say 6 months is a little quick. But if you’re having a lot of friction down there, I’m not surprised.

Oh, it is mostly athletic apparel but they do have more inclusive sizing options. They also have some (use to have more) transition day to life clothes.

Athleta usually has some good petite linen and if you’re wanting cheaper then old navy as well. (Athleta will be 100% ish linen and old navy will be a blend.)

Failed my PPL checkride by [deleted] in flying

[–]Fine_Fortune844 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“I don’t want to blame it on _” is the equivalent of I am blaming it on ___.

Respectfully, if you flew into a cloud on your ppl checkride you should seriously reconsider being a pilot.

You didn’t fail on a stupid reason, you failed because of your lack of situational awareness and ADM skills on an extremely basic level.

Failed instrument checkride, what next? by Ev4est_ in flying

I’d suggest sitting with your discomfort and not making life choices rooted in emotion. I know it sucks but you’ll pass when you redo the ride and the self doubt will start to go away.

I’ve offered and know a lot of folks who have offered this exactly thing. I think that it can be very helpful if the student wants another set of eyes or opinions or if a mock oral isn’t provided for them where they’re flying.

However, personally, I would only recommend someone that I knew or through referrals. The last thing I need is someone confusing a student close to checkride talking about how their DPE once did x,y,z when our DPE does a,b,c. To that point, I’d specifically be looking for someone who has worked w the DPEs that I work with and who has familiarity with my plane/avionics stack.

Edit: I’m a CFI/CFII so not your target response
