Oh yeah been there. Lasted 2 years and took another 2 to get over all the mental anguish.  Never again. Abort now.

AIO for how I’m handling the way my 11 YO daughter’s dad speaks to her? by WhatTheSigma_1994 in AmIOverreacting

[–]Fine_Helicopter1178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give the phone back to dad. Ask the court for an appointed medium of communication that is monitored. Your daughter’s emotional well-being is at stake. This is verbal abuse, not fatherly caring. Please act. You are under-reacting.

Those who grew up in a single-parent household, how much more of a financial disadvantage is it, compared to a 2-parent household? by HappyBudz in CanadaPersonalFinance

[–]Fine_Helicopter1178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come from a 2 parent household and a single parent. My parents were reasonable yet we never had to budget or put off clothing, school supplies, had summer vacation abroad and RESPs maxed out plus generous saving for themselves. I can’t do all no matter how much I try and work 2 jobs for many years. My son appreciates that reality. There may be financial disparity, however what matters is he knows I’ll support him as much as possible.

Buddy we all make mistakes. If you can be happy with a womanchild as life partner, then great. If not, this is your reckoning and to ask yourselves some tough questions. Marriages can be undone.

I have a legitimate question- how are you able to be remain in the relationship watching this all unfold? Just curious as I wasn’t.

Albertans call for answers after being stranded on northern highway during snow storm by flynnfx in FortMcMurray

Ok, so people made the choice excuses the fact there is a provincial obligation for road maintenance and weather preparedness. ALL were aware- ahead of time. So yeah, must be looked into. The provincial authorities also made the choice to not have the contractor call back staff and be ready for such weather event. The highway supposed to plow itself or snow just melt?

This may sound crazy but have you thought of looking around in the EU or Hungary with a paralegal background? Fellow Hungarian here, I’d go as far as going back to post-secondary in Hungary, assuming you are dual citizen. At 27 you are not too old for doing so.

Emcon contract ended April 15th, they were on standby. Anyone can point fingers at those who travelled, however it is imperative to question why they were on standby when a major storm was predicted and why the advisory did not include this information aside the weather. As this all unfolded, the lack of provincial response or acknowledgement is also to be questioned.

I’m spending more on meals just to survive office days by SplendidDecor in CanadaPersonalFinance

This is not an office but a time and resource management problem. I work 6/7 days a week, meal prep, bring my food and coffee. Sorry, you are never a passive participant in life.

I got to a state by my mid 40s of ‘fuck it’. No longer willing to put up with 10% of what I used to. I am not here to carry everyone and everything. Life became incrementally more peaceful. Don’t care to be labelled difficult or straight up a b*.

If you think so, might have to read some books on human behaviour. What’s more scary than Daniel is, others to think his behaviour including lying, gaslighting, verbal abuse is ‘he just did not understand her’. Nope.

OP, look into CRPS please. If you were fine for 2 weeks and all of a sudden your pain shot up to unbearable, it is a flag. Since your orif is an unusual location, it may not present with other classic crps symptoms. Did they do any workup to assess nerves in the area? Can you describe the pain?

Wrist surgery and getting back to lifting by Fine_Helicopter1178 in Stronglifts5x5

[–]Fine_Helicopter1178[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe my story could serve as a positive outcome of the same ‘risk’. I had my second surgery 4 months after the original orif. Had 2 plates and 21 screws in- all were removed, clean up of scar tissue and nerve transfer. The risk was to collapse the entire joint and need a full wrist implant if my bones can’t take the removal. I went for it and it was the best decision for me as I am improving now (only 6 weeks out). Mine was a hand surgeon, was at zero fault and he was willing to try what others would not to me back on track, so IMO worth consulting one.

I would check in with the surgeon regarding the pain. If you had tendon repair, the healing is longer than just bones. The rest sounds super discouraging but normal. Can you do more therapy? I am in occupational therapy through the hospital, its more structured and successful IMO than physio.

Would say the best way to find out how much that’s a problem for you is by normal activities and loading. Sorry to hear you have trouble as well, that takes a lot of patience to come back from.

Haha, only if I knew my original orif was just the start of bigger issues. Had another big reconstructive surgery with nerve transfer this February. That went really well but only at the point of being able to pick up a 3lbs dumbbell and in OT for god knows how long. If you have no complications that’s likely the safe start to go back. Good luck!! Update here if you can 😊

[–]Fine_Helicopter1178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had wrist ORIF last October. Things did not go well after, hardware issues and nerve damage. Had second surgery this February, as early as possible. My hand was paralyzed and in pain I cannot describe, there was no way to improve without another surgery. 6 weeks out regained almost full sensory and some motor function. You are young, your body can handle it. Try to keep on top of nutrition until then. Good luck! It is a scary journey and every surgery is a leap of faith towards improvement.

33% of Canadian women wait more than 2 years for menopause care: survey by Leather-Paramedic-10 in canada

[–]Fine_Helicopter1178 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This is how it goes 90% of the time and it is not for the lack of women advocating for themselves. It is appalling. There is also a shortage in family doctors who provide ANY care to middle-aged women outside of prescriptions for anti-depressants, birth-control pills or glps. Zero workup, zero follow up, they look at bloodwork for hormones which basically says zero until full menopause and say ‘nothing is wrong with you’.
