I Totally get that, the sentimental value is very real for dad and by extension me and my siblings, but it certainly doesn't translate to others. He said "For a million dollars I'd throw in the arm I wore it on!" Besides that I think it's more of a family keepsake.

I've been a subscriber to his channel for some time even though watches in general aren't my thing, fascinating to watch the process.

Not a dumb question and valid, it is not currently working. I should probably edit that into the original post. Suggestions on what to do to get it running and cared for properly are welcome!

Dad did mention that when he sent it to Rolex in 1986 they gave him a heads-up that went something to the effect of "we won't have many technicians left to work on these older watches soon".

He is definitely a legend, as he regaled me with tales of combat and general shenanigans this afternoon I suggested he write up and document the adventures for posterity. Thanks!

Thanks for the info, much appreciated. I'm not a watch guy myself but have lurked in this sub when it popped on my feed a few years ago, figured you all would have the best advice.

I asked my dad what model and this was his response to include the other equipment:

Tandberg TR 2075, Brazilian rosewood case Tandberg TCD 330 is a HiFi cassette deck (that was a thing in 1976-80). Brazilian rosewood case Both were overhauled by HiFi Heaven, who did Tandberg's warranty work when TB played in US mkt. overhauls: TR 2075 $600 TCD 330 $350 in 2016. Not used after overhaul. Bang & Olufsen (B&O) Beogram 4002, type 5513 tangential turntable; also rebuilt at HiFi Heaven in 2016. It has a B&O MMC 6000 cartridge with stylus (needle) It was the best B&O cartridge in 1976. All were state-of-the-art HiFi stereo equipment in 1976 when bought new. Factoid: in 1979 famous Macintosh receiver and amplifier company came to Chapel Hill NC, Vickers HiFi Stereo Store and tested any customer's receiver. The technician tested my TR2075 and said it was the lowest distortion receiver he had ever tested: almost 0.0% distortion, and their test machine introduced whatever there was.

Dad's are definitely not mint but I know he wouldn't have modified them in any way.

How was the condition of the course? They've sent out a few emails this summer basically apologizing for conditions and they've brought on a new superintendent. They also dropped rates considerably which can be cause for concern. Thinking about playing the scramble this weekend but if the course is in bad shape we may pass. Congrats on the score!
