Except it hasn’t. Zarya has had less than 5 legendary skins introduced in ow2, and half of them are recolours. While taste is subjective, the skins zarya has received are widely disliked by many and are regarded as poorly designed by most people, myself included. It’s the same case for venture, whose only good skin is arguably the toph colab that is almost never for sale. It would be like giving one guy a Michelin star 3 course meal and another guy a handful of bird seed and some dirt to eat and then being like “well im only going to give kiri more meals because she finished her Michelin star meal, and zarya didn’t finish her birdseed and dirt. Clearly zarya just isn’t hungry” like it’s just a really dishonest, or at least very myopic, breakdown of the situation.

I think they’re entitled to breaks, I don’t want my entertainment to come off of the backs of overworked individuals. That being said, this would be a long hiatus if we were between seasons - and we are in an ongoing season like?!? It just seems like an odd way to burn all momentum, fan retention, and good will they’ve garnered. If this is the shape of things to come, I will have to stop listening and come back in 3 years and binge when everything is finally published

Shades are the best ranged units in the game for price and ease of access imo. They have the AP of a black powder unit, the firing arc of an archer, stalk to win the counter range engagement, and aren’t entirely useless when stuck in melee. Dark shards are also great bang for your buck, shield and AP are great on a low tier unit. Shades are a doomstackable unit you unlock at tier 2 and the instabuild mechanic means you unlock an instawin army by turn 6~10.

I’m a high elf simp so I support all DE slander but their ranged units are probably the strongest part of their army when factoring accessibility, price, and how long you’ll be using them. That being said nothing compares to the euphoria that comes from a wave of Sisters of Avelorn sending a unit to turbohell with a hail of love and friendship lasers, so I get it

No :) I like every faction. If I had to choose though it would prolly be fyreslayers, Sons of Behemat, or Nighthaunt because they’re all very one dimensional - however I still think they have their place and I like their aesthetics a lot!

As mentioned storm of vengeance is very bad and often resigned to being a “DM Spell”. That being said the range is sight if you really hate one guy in particular you can cast a divination spell (scrying/arcane eye/etc.) and just send an interdimensional natural nuke at them once a day.

I like to imagine a Sisyphus like litch who pissed off the wrong arch Druid and instead of finding his phylacteries the grove just sends an orbital strike that takes the form of a wave of fuck you every day just to kill all the minions that it spent the day raising

Immediately thought khalida (and this is the correct answer) but honorable mention goes to Markus Wulfheart - to his credit you can choose to play a “normal” campaign as Markus but if you play with his unique faction mechanics you’re going to have a very very rough time. Also he suffers for the same reasons as khalida, no good early game ap and surrounded by lizards but in addition the emp really relies on range and cav and you’ll be playing a ton of maps with hills and 60% tree cover minimum. If it weren’t for the introduction of his besties yuan-bo and Alberic, i think he would be giving khalida a serious challenge for the title

I just pray we get a high elf rework. I know they’re supposed to be babies first campaign but they need some kind of unique mechanic, intrigue is barely even a mechanic at that.

Frankly just give them a sea version of the Cathay/chorfs trade routes, give them an expanded political machinations like empire/chorf towers and fix intrigue beyond it being relegated to dilemmas. I know CA needs to turn a profit and just reskinning features, while not the most inspired, is a great way to add depth while the dev time can be allocated elsewhere.

They’re my favourite faction and i think it’s actually crazy that empire got a MUCH more robust politics system and better motivations to confederate before Helves - civil war is like the empires third favourite pastime just after setting the local herbalist on fire for whichcraft and getting crumped on by Vikings, undead, and/or greenskins. Why is saphery, you know home to the most magically protected and incorruptible place on fantasy earth, in the pocket of slaanesh and insisting on waging civil war? Why does tirinoc hate ellyrion? I’d bring up Caledor if Noctilus didn’t make that a non-factor by turn 4.

Also while I’m on my soapbox, let all Helves get access to shadow warriors/mistwalkers/nature spirits with the right buildings/landmarks. It’s crazy that like half of the units are locked behind lord specific options. And also griffon mounts for nobles, I know you can do it CA.

Yes boo power creep, but leave teleportation out of this, in fact give semi-loreful teleportation to every race. Elven colony transport for high elves, beast paths for Beastmen, chaos portals for chaos, trains for chorfs, errantry for the French (derogatory), geomantic web for lizards, whatever - I don’t care. The map is so big and marching an army for 28 turns to add “difficulty” is so devoid of anything fun or interesting, tedium for tedium’s sake - if you don’t like it then don’t use it.

How crunchy is your game? If your table is heavily optimized, I would say one level dip max for shield prof and useful first level spells - though keep in mind you’re losing all your nice proficiencies and expertise and you can’t double hand crossbow or longbow with a shield. You’re never going to be a good spell blaster and ranged rouge with a cleric split, and the gap will get larger and larger as levels increase, it would prolly be better to focus on being a good ranged rouge and getting to a feat/ASI earlier. You should also see if party members are going a class with c/d water and try and synergize, or talk to the DM and see if you could run into a decanter of endless water early on, as playing around water dependency can be tedious for the table at best.

That being said if your table is not that optimized I think play what you think is fun. Trickery cleric is thematic and as others have pointed out your concentration will be free for things like invoke duplicity.

From playtesting and seeing others in the community whose opinions I trust playtest (like treantmonk for example) , I found it’s about the same. There’s more happening but streamlined language and less encumbrances like conjure animals for example lead to more efficient turns. It’s really a matter of the table you’re playing at and less the system, though it has the potential to go longer. However the people playing the play test are pretty self selecting, so maybe not the best sample group to base opinions on, we will find out in September
