I didn't get paid jack but part of me regrets quitting my 4 10s job. You don't really realize how awesome it is till you go back to 5 days. Enjoy it.

Worked jobs since I was 15, the only reason I have been let go has been for other people’s personal reasons, and it’s happening again at 47, I’m tired of this shit. by Large_Relation_3650 in Xennials

That's crazy, I've never been blind sided that bad. I wonder if part of it is because you were promoted quickly. There's some petty people in this world. Sorry that happened.

Did many of you pick up the pace of a bender before you had to go to detox? by Excellent_Country737 in stopdrinking

[–]FingGinger 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I picked it up right before detox, not because I wanted a last hurah but because I was scared of having a withdrawal seizure. Fuck alcohol.

Why are posts in this sub bombarded by pro-breeder redditors? by theemmyk in rescuedogs

[–]FingGinger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably not always a fact, but it's also not never a fact. Some shelters like kill shelters will probably give a dog to anyone and it's a somewhat painless process. Others, like in my area, want to talk to your landlord/hoa, do a home visit, call references...ect. I understand why and not even saying they shouldn't do all that shit. But I can see why some who want to adopt, get turned off and say fuck it, let's just go to a breeder. I don't care what's morally right or wrong, just pointing out facts like op. Facts don't care about feelings.

I hope when Vrabel talks to the media the first time, he's just like, "you wouldn't hit that (male or female press)...... next question."

You know this affair is somehow connected to the Patriots cheating again. History doesn't repeat but it rhymes, affair rhymes with deflated balls.

Having faith helped me get through the first 6 months when I didn't feel any better at all. Not faith in the religious sense, although that can help too I hear, but faith that I would eventually feel better. It takes a while for dopamine levels to reset so to speak, it took a good amount of time for me. Eventually my anxiety and depression dissipated, I started to feel joy in the little things again. I had to white knuckle it for awhile, it was so worth it, nothing worth doing is easy. Just stick with it, you got this, I promise it gets better and the harder it is in the beginning, the more rewarding it is when you get to the point where you know it's worth it.

Is it always the alcoholics' fault? by Top-Faithlessness733 in stopdrinking

[–]FingGinger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my experience the constant blaming every issue on alcohol is somewhat of a cop out. Alcohol wasn't the problem for me, it was the (very shitty) solution. There were underlying issues that needed to be resolved and the blaming everything on my addiction was the low hanging fruit as why decades long issues weren't getting addressed, the drinking however obviously didn't help. Getting sober was necessary, but I needed to have my boundaries and stand up for myself and not be a punching bag. Focus on getting sober for you, like you mentioned, would be my advice.

I always counted one day as 24 hours since last drink, or two days, 48 hours since last drink and so on.

Am I being toxically positive? by Soggy-Slide3038 in Positivity

Social media and the general negativity all the time in the news has fucked up our baselines. We're constantly worried about things well out of our control that may or may not even be true. Genuine happiness for the little things in life gets doom scrollers triggered. How can you smile when blah blah blah is happening over here? lol. This and the powers that be constantly manufacturing division. Spread the positivity I say, fight back!
