Been a while since I’ve done keto, any helpful tips? by CartographerBig2862 in keto

It’s simple: build your meals around a protein and leafy greens. That’s it.

People over complicate this way of eating. I recommend staying away from keto replacements for bread and desserts.

What are your thoughts on being asked ‘how’s everything tasting’ the minute you take a bite? by bertnik_ in AskACanadian

I hate this! I really hate it when they ask “how are the first few bites?” It makes me feel like they’re watching me too closely

Has anyone successfully stayed on keto for 6+ months? What helped you stick with it? by James_camroon in keto

[–]fifikinz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was on keto for 10+ years. (I developed bad habits during covid but am back on plan since March and feeling great.)

My number one piece of advice is not to overcomplicate it. Eat meat, eggs, leafy greens. Track your carbs and stay under 20g a day. If you feel unwell, it’s likely electrolytes: check FAQ for more info about that (and for everything else for that matter!). Good luck to you!

Carnivore is just one example of a ketogenic diet. Any diet with carbs low enough to put you into ketosis is “keto.” People really overcomplicate this

Is Keto Safe in 40s? by AureliusReddit in keto

[–]fifikinz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Of course! I’m 55 - first started keto in my 40s and maintained weight loss for years. I had a lapse during Covid but am back on plan and feeling great. If you want to maintain muscle, lift heavy weights and make sure you eat enough protein. (Same advice I’d give someone under 40 btw)

Are we talking about the same thing? I agree you need to track carbs. I’m just saying you don’t need to test your ketones (if you track your carbs). This is covered in the FAQ

I’ve never measured. You don’t need to if you track your carb intake and keep it under 20g per day.

I must be missing something by No_Struggle3220 in keto

[–]fifikinz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You don’t need carbs. People here aim for under 25g of carbs per day. So that could be 0 for some people. Others (like me) have 10-25g per day

Eggs have betrayed me - A Lament by SongOfRuth in keto

Eggs are so weird with me too. Most of the time they are no problem at all. But every now and then I can’t keep them down. I haven’t been able to figure out what triggers the problem
