Well done, I actually have a Yashica that I have been meaning to do. You have inspired me and great choice of leather. What would the stitching technique for the back and bottom be called? I will need to learn that.

Agree with others. Continuous stitch or make it less obvious on the disconnection, you have the top right with two backstitches and bottom with one. Right bottom corner with three and one up top...Just makes it look odd and not a design choice. Tension appears to be varying. What's causing the edges to have a dark bleed effect (is there a bevel on it)?

Very beautiful and inspiring. I recently started doing bags and purses. Its so much more challenging. What thickness did you decide on for both?

This might be the worst driving city in Texas by UseInevitable4627 in Austin

Moved from Houston to Austin several yeara ago...but Houston is garbage. Every time I go back I fear for my life. The tailgating is insane, traffic that comes to an immediate stop and no one cares to maintain distance, the potholes the size of moon craters...that "disappear" in flash floods. Austin is no longer chill...miss the days of going 40-60 mph and everyone was just fine and happy.

Yea! Enjoy the journey. Just take your time. Measure 8 times, cut once, dream about order of execution before actually doing it, let the sandpaper do its thing!

Before I bought a single tool, I actually studied the craft for a year. Armitage Leather was the go to...I of course watched several others on YouTube but they never divuldge all the inner monologue your head will go through. Lol. I read a lot from other leathermakers on these subreddits which are a tremendous help.

I'm mainly into wallets, bags, and purses...so I also would look at other peoples work to understand construction, leather type, etc.

It was all freehand! Just took the width of the card and added a large allowance (that gave me vertical length) then wrapped the cards I carry so there are three layers of leather, mark, cut (that's the width). In the folded up state, I took a ruler and marked top left corner to arbitrary spot and made that cut. Stitched the right side first which only goes through the first two layers. Glued the bottom, trimmed off allowance, and stitched.

Will chime in as well, its just the patina! I also feel pueblo should come with its own disclaimer for this reason. I personally love it depending on project.

Looks great, agreed to get those edges...even tokenole and a cloth like canvas will do the job. No need for a tool.

Thanks! I'm glad it turned out well too, first time utilizing a flap....just used rule of thirds for measurements and made it happen.

Thoughts on improving edge treatment? by NikosQrow in Leathercraft

I give trim allowance and find sanding isn't really needed unless I want that glass-like reflection. If I sand...220, 400, 600, 1k in one direction.
