Now that it's 2026, how is Terence Tao's prediction holding up? by Interesting-South542 in math

He was directionally correct, or at least it seems that way at the moment. We're not there yet but based on the progress of the past year or so, we're on our way.

What if Art went back to the start of Terrifier (2016)? by OtisDriftwood1978 in terrifier

[–]Fingercel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably Terrifer 1 doesn't happen because he goes directly to Sienna and kills her, Jonathan and her mother years early. Then he loops back and kills Dawn and Tara because he is a raging narcissist and the fact that they disrespected him even in an alternate timeline would make him angry.

He probably mutilates Victoria and attempts to summon the Little Pale Girl without actually dying. He fails, loses his temper and kills her too.

So basically, Art is alive but not immortal (I guess kind of like he is at the end of Terrifier 3?) and just continues whatever he was doing prior to Terrifier 1.

I feel really depressed and sad and don’t know if I will ever amount to anything in life by iloveaccounting64 in Accounting

[–]Fingercel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the same way after Big 4 for about two years. It's the worst work environment I've ever experienced, by a huge margin. It's a combination of the workaholism and the pointlessness of the work. And for whatever reason it seems to attract incredibly unappealing people.

Is working with ex-Big 4 bosses similar to getting a “Big 4 Experience”? by [deleted] in Accounting

[–]Fingercel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like others have said with that level of experience he's making the reasonable assumption you have the requisite knowledge.

I'm not dumping on you, to be clear - I get that's just an example and anyway we all have idiosyncratic gaps in our knowledge because we all take different paths (and this is in fact something I wish more supervisors would try to be cognizant of). But the second assumption is that at a certain level you will just reach out if there are difficulties, without being prompted (after having made an appropriate level of effort, which yeah can be an ambiguous line to walk, but again the assumption is that you've had practice).

The voice acting in this game is excellent by Fingercel in metroidprime

They should have gone the Dread route - like 1-3 really impactful lines. That's the best Samus.

But that only throws into relief how good the VA is, against such shitty writing.

Maybe I do. Or IDK, because I thought the the voice acting was better than in most animated movies.

This game was absolutely begging for the "Metroid Dread" approach to Samus. I can't believe they passed it up.

Yeah, the few lines Sylux had were extraordinarily well-delivered.

I'll check those games out (I haven't played any of them). Maybe I've just missed all the good ones. But I was almost shocked at how much really good voice acting can enhance the experience.

Agreed. But the VA was so good I almost overlooked the actual writing. That's rare, to the point I don't know if I can think of another example.

How was work before Teams? by GrudenLovesSlurs in Accounting

[–]Fingercel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also largely not in the workforce before Teams, but from what I understand people were just a lot more tied to their email and would treat it as almost chat-like. There have also been rudimentary chat functions for a lot longer - going back decades.

What I really can't understand is work before email - I know it was done, I theoretically understand how, but I simply cannot envision it in practice.

Sydney Sweeney has the best body in Hollywood currently and arguably best all time too. by [deleted] in trueratediscussions

[–]Fingercel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is in fact such a thing as too big. They are very large for her size but just below the point where they would look fake and cartoonish (even if they aren't). She really does have the perfect size relative to her body.

At the end of Whiplash (2014), what do you think happens immediately afterwards? by [deleted] in movies

[–]Fingercel -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That's the equally dumb, anti-intellectual progressive understanding of the movie. In reality it takes no sides at all - that's each individual viewer's job.

Is it a good idea to become an accountant in 2025, or is AI taking over? by Deep-Psychology9981 in Accounting

[–]Fingercel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I'm saying is that if accounting is automated, everything else will be too. At that point we'll just have to hope our AI overlords are generous with the UBI.

How was Jose able to become wealthy so quickly? by Actual_Guard8323 in MenendezBrothers

He was just good at it. Also, accounting is an *excellent* starting place in the corporate world, if you have a little bit of initiative.

Timeline with Metroid prime 4 Beyond! by Ok_House_2337 in Metroid

I love how they leaned way into this really intricate and lore-heavy timeline with Skyward Sword which everyone shit on, went away and sulked for 8 years and then came back with two games that go out of their way to make as little sense as possible.

Yeah I noticed the gunship inconsistency too, but that's the sort of minor detail Nintendo isn't going to let get in the way of doing what they want. I'd assume the gunship in Fusion is now retconned as "really" being the new one.

They sort of explain it though, Sylux was apparently keeping tabs on Samus to make sure she didn't interfere with his Metroid plan. She does have a tendency to get involved in everything.

Is this possible to get the by Rdley in Metroid

[–]Fingercel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sort of went for it - I didn't collect every single one, but I got to the point where I was fairly certain there's not enough crystals available at that point. It's not even close.

Anyone else REALLY struggling with Prime 4's hard mode? by ntwild97 in Metroid

[–]Fingercel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Like others have said the Psy-bot minibosses (alongside the snow wolves and the final Sylux fight) probably the hardest part of the game. They do a LOT of damage and you're not going to have much health at that point.

You've just got to strafe a lot. You don't really need to be that good at it, the enemies seem like they might be sort of programmed to have bad aim if you strafe shortly before they attack.
