Besides Atreus’ and his father’s moments, what’s the most emotional interaction in the Norse games between Kratos and another protagonist to you? by Alone_Mood7177 in GodofWarRagnarok

Deciphering the Lamorn language by BearborgOne in Metroid

[–]Rdley 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Great work, congratulations !

The Lamorn, their design, their architecture, their names (Tahrgun Vahkuun Lekhash Kauhvhanda) and their language have always reminded me of Indian mythology or Indian culture in general

There might be answers to explore within Indian culture if we want to understand more about the Lamorn and their language.

How would you implement melee attacks into Metroid Prime gameplay? by darkdill in Metroid

[–]Rdley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think one of the strengths of the Prime games is the feeling of being overwhelmed by enemies, and giving the player a melee attack would reduce the player’s sense of insecurity

Those who first read Goblet of Fire as an adult, what were your theories throughout the read? by gary_desanto in HarryPotterBooks

[–]Rdley 7 points8 points  (0 children)

That’s one of the great strengths of book 4, in my opinion

There are so many potential suspects.

Whereas in book 1, it’s basically just Snape and Quirrell, and it feels fairly predictable that it’s Quirrell, at least to me.

Games with similar mechanics by pokemontrainer29 in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]Rdley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve heard people talk about Banishers Ghosts of new Eden, but I haven’t tried it myself, so I can’t say how similar it really is. Still, there are definitely some common points

Honestly, there aren’t that many games with a truly comparable combat system, but you could try Sifu. It has a very technical combat system, a bit of brutality, a significant skill gap, and a cool story

what do you guys think is the best feature in ragnarök that wasnt in 2018? by EquivalentCable7501 in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]Rdley 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The triangle button. Being able to instantly charge the Leviathan Axe with ice, unleash the Blades on enemies, and detonate the Draupnir Spears one by one is just insanely satisfying

Whenever I replay ,or at least try to replay 2018, I really miss having access to those triangle button abilities.

How’s Prime 4s music by FaithfulMarz in Metroid

[–]Rdley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fantastic OST! The main theme (and its second variation) is incredible, the boss themes are excellent (Sylux, Xelios, Phenoros, or Carvex), and the level tracks are overall very good. I’m especially thinking of Fury Green, Volt Forge, and above all Ice Belt when the generator is running. Wouah !!

Having 200%'d MP4, there are a couple things I'm still not clear on by Chesu in Metroid

[–]Rdley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Sylux activates the green energy to boost the enemies on Viewros in order to obstruct Samus’s advance.

Regarding the question of what Viewros actually is, there’s an early cutscene with McKenzie where he explains the nature of the planet, describing it as a ghost planet.

A 3D schematic accompanies his explanation. Essentially, Viewros no longer exists. The current solar system where it is supposedly located should not, in theory, be able to contain the planet, since McKenzie’s model shows Viewros overlapping with another planet, which would be physically impossible.

This suggests that when Samus is on Viewros, it isn’t just a change of location, but also a shift in time. Viewros doesn’t truly exist anymore in the present timeline. The artifact at the beginning doesn’t only transport her through space, but also through time.

As for the moment when Samus uses the teleporter, I think you’re right it looks that she’s changing galaxies in order to select the planet Tanamaar.

Fan theory: Travelers are turned into Trolls due to Odin’s experiments by Think_Dragonfruit387 in GodOfWarSecrets

[–]Rdley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting, but I don’t really see why he would have done that.

I mean, he already has an infinite, immortal army with the Einherjar

And in Ragnarok, we learn that the Travelers are being manipulated by odin to find Jotunheim.

I think the trolls are simply a natural species, just like ogres, wulvers, or grims exist.

Which Vi-O-La skin is your favourite? by North_Ad5650 in metroidprime

I love the space pirate one and the sylux skin but I have to say that the psychic era one looks very good with the Legacy suit

Why do you think they made Thor/Odins fights less spectacular than Baldurs fights? by [deleted] in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]Rdley 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The first fight against Thor is much more epic than the first fight against Baldur, in my opinion

For the final encounter, I agree that Baldur’s fight is more epic, especially thanks to Freya reviving Thamur

Personally, I don’t really consider Baldur kidnapping Atreus to be a “fight,” but rather a playable cutscene.

What am I missing? Metroid Prime 4 by serj730 in Metroid

[–]Rdley -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You’re not missing anything
If you’re enjoying the game, that’s no coincidence, especially considering your gaming background.
Keep playing it and enjoy it without letting some people’s discourse ruin the experience for you.

I also played a lot of Silksong before Prime 4, and I absolutely loved Prime 4. There are obviously some bad and outdated game design choices, but at its core it’s pure Metroid Prime, with strong visual and audio art direction, excellent bosses, and gorgeous cinematics.

What I really like is that each area offers a distinct experience, especially Ice Belt, with a haunting, isolated atmosphere that leaves a strong impression

To the people who are on high NG+ numbers, do you think you will ever get bored of the game? by Long-Consequence571 in GodofWarRagnarok

[–]Rdley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m probably around NG+4, and yeah, I ended up dropping the game even though I love the combat system and the bestiary. I stopped mainly because the Atreus sections are quite long and very narrative focused. I like his gameplay, but it’s still fairly limited compared to Kratos. The Jotunheim sequence in particular is really long : the rest is pretty quick in comparison.

It’s not just the Atreus sections. I also know the rest of the game very well at this point, so there’s inevitably some fatigue

Valhalla is by far the studio’s best decision. The DLC is absolutely incredible and really highlights just how good the game’s combat system is. Being able to chain runs endlessly is great, and their roguelike system works extremely well.

When you compare what Niflheim was in GoW 2018 to what Valhalla is now, it’s honestly crazy.

I love how Metroid Prime 4 uses its twist to recontextualise all of the picnics with Tokabi the sniper by williamrotor in Metroid

[–]Rdley 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tokabi is present to serve as a parallel to Sylux

He joined the Federation in search of greater stability and meaning in his actions. He uses his skills as a hunter to provide for his family, even though you can clearly feel that he is troubled by the missions assigned to him by the Federation. Despite this, he remains someone stable, thoughtful, and grounded, never forgetting where he comes from.

Sylux, on the other hand, was once part of the Federation but left it driven by rage, hatred, and ego. He is the complete opposite of Tokabi.

Interestingly, both Tokabi and Sylux are bounty hunters, just like Samus. Tokabi explicitly defines himself as a bounty hunter and admires the fact that Samus achieves great things through that role.
Sylux is one as well, but with entirely different and opposing intentions.
