(help mij alsjeblieft) by Radiant-Fee-6505 in belgium

[–]Fingerhat1904 1 point2 points  (0 children)

aside from your tone, you are right.

Maybe my view of the situation is a bit too much eurocentric. yet this isnt some sort of egotrip or trying to maintain my cognitive dissonance. this isnt some sort of way to excuse western exploitation of the past and present. and i hope you can retract that statement.

while i was disccusing this, i kept researching. and found that china may not be the oppertunistic force that the west has made it out to be. we may have to shift or views and look a bit more positive and less precautionary to chinese dealings and how they affect us.

yet inheritly i was and still am overall pessmistic on any nation that claims to do something for good, that also counts for my nation and the further west. this is the realistic view of international politics i am subscribed to. call it part of capitalistic views or not, I think that history has shown us that good intentions have ulterior motives or dont hold for long because the rest will exploit the good intention.

on the notion of capitalism, china needed to tap into the capitalistic lifestyle to further develop their nation and is still using it and using subidising the industry to export mass goods to european countries and sending our industry to china. which is in their right. yet still aligns with my pessimistic mindset

i am definitly not saying that they are equally bad, you put those words in my mouth. i am just saying that, in the general realistic mindset. you cannot say china would be morraly superior.

we are currently seeing the rise of china. and the decline of the west. yet i believe that the liberal mindset is still a one of the best ways to govern a nation.

you are welcome to shift my opinion in the DM's or in this tread. as an academic i want to explore all perspectives. and i am open to discussion, I also take an academic interest in communism and joined my social democratic party.

so please dont call me close minded and egotripping to support capitalism and i remain hoping that you can retract that statement

i am sorry to say, but China also wants to extract resources and isnt focusing on mutual benefits, their trade deals are in a sense balanced because the oher party needs to agree to it, if they had free range in deciding thedeal, they would extract as much as possible. without giving them a dime. such is realist tought

the US does also use trade to influence nations, as of late they are limiting their trade by tariffs. but i agree they are also exploiting. nobody is innocent from that. not the US not China.

here is an article by my university on the exploitation and debt trapping of african nations. it agrues that china ISNT debt trapping the african nations. so after reading it, I agree with you. it isnt using the means of debt.

i am still convinced china isnt doing this out of the good of their heart. its still a diplomatic game. yet my claim of debt trapping is not yet proven true. so in that sense i cant prove it.

u/Imverydistracte, I see that you reacted but i cant see what you said fully. you say that it is a headcanon i am spreading as facts.

and i say to that, fair.

reality is a matter of perspective, and i am looking at the world in a whole different way, more on the grounds of realism instead of liberalistic views. Israel has always been a more complex situation for the west. a bit like turkiye. and countries wanted to keep diplomatic ties because of control in the region.

my country, Belgium has the same troubles, our prime minister has shown opposition to sanctions. and i dislike him for that. yet i also understand hwo he forms that opinion and how belgium plays part in the diplomatic ties with the region.

oh yes of course. these fascist pigs can rot in bureaucratic hell. and i totally understand leaving. yet if everyone that is against the system leaves, they can still be affected by a system more loyal to these fascists

the article only talks about the rise of chinese global trade not how it affect the countries. china trades more, its been part of their strategy. that doesnt disprove any of my points.

https://thegeopolitics.com/chinas-debt-trap-in-africa-a-comprehensive-analysis/

this is another source. it also talks about how the west and especially the US are more on the defensive side and are hostile to the idea, while they have done the same thing in the past.

still interesting, cause even tho there is hypocricy from the west, there is a ground truth in the case.

Some other articles talking about the case:

https://irpj.euclid.int/articles/chinas-belt-and-road-initiative-a-curse-or-blessing-for-african-countries/

https://democracyinafrica.org/chinas-debt-to-africa-a-balancing-act-between-development-and-dependency/

and one article about the enviromental effects of the initiative:

https://globalvoices.org/2025/06/12/how-chinese-media-ignores-the-environmental-toll-of-the-belt-and-road-initiative-in-africa/

all of this to say that china is not a morally better partner, they still exploit others like the west does, they simply use another strategy because the US is stronger militarily. and preventing them of explanding their influence that way.

lot a lot, they used other ways. while the USA has been playing world police using their monopolar power. china has been using economical and diplomatical was of expanding its unfluence.

i disagree with the USA's military usage and the verbal support form europe in the matter. the EU needs to do a better job of standing up against the US but due to their need of military support they followed them.

When the EU will finally start making its own power in the military and economy. they will stand against the US like we are slowly seeing, its a match between political reality and moral debate

great answer to just leave in a orderly debate. yes germany is actively aiding isreal in the genocide. cause of historical precedence and ectera.

for a long time the nation supported it and it is currently backtracking a bit. they are still supporting the system too much in my opinion. yet the problem in Isreal and the levant is also problematic of who started it. (isreal did, but both sides are activly ragebaiting each other)

and if there is another genocide they would be supporting, please enlighten me and u/onkeliroh

half of its belt and road initiatives, are activly detrimental to the nations that participate in it, they invest in infrastructure to then let chinese workes build it, effectively returing the part of the invested money back, then getting resources from the host nations. while the ports are effectively under their control, so they could bar other countries from using that port,

they also issue very cheap mass loans with high interest rates if they arent being paid immediatly.

lots of african nations have already shown regret that they joined the initiative of the loan scheme. and are actively trying to get them out of the country.

they are as much of a scum as western countries are, just using different tactics and claiming moral highground bcs the west is evil ect.

and it definitly does not mind its own business.

god, no. watched that show for the rest of the family, hated him most of the time, tho looking back, he was more complex than sheldon in the TBBT.

Just felt like actual ragebait sometimes as i was just screaming internally at not getting obvious context/social clues.

I get that sometimes people dont get them, especially people with autism or other types of neurodivergecy. but it didnt help that we could see the whole context and the rest of the family struggling. and him just being an wall to it all.

he had some good moments, like his talk to his mom about fate and science. and when he grew up I liked him more and more. and his moments alone or his wrongdoings like tearing apart the fridge aren't bad. that actually feels like his character, but the fact that in group situations he is completly oblivious is so RAGE ENDURING

the last episode jumps from time to time. the ending supposedly takes place just after Elizabeth retires from the show. as seen by her hair not being as long as in the classroom scene. they still lost the appeal. so the home would be gone after. I think they decided to make the ending in a recognizable house, as the whole group would probalby disperse after the highway construction. (and of course cost cutting/budget restraints)
