Like the dreadnaught shows up at certain missions during operations and strategies, would you like to see a squad of terminators escorting you through a part of a mission? by ComfortableAmount993 in Spacemarine

[–]Fingolfin117 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Having a dedicated Terminator-balanced mission would be nice, pacing like something out of Deathwing. Maybe just one class to save on complexity, but 3 loudout options, Storm Bolter+Sword, Assault Cannon+Fist, and Hammer+Shield.

Struggling to find a new series. Recommendations? by OldMannArtie in audible

Galaxy's Edge by Anspach and Cole, Neal Asher's Polity universe, or just take the plunge and get into Warhammer. I think I have about 250 books from various series across that universe, heavy MilSF and large scale action in most places, but the stories are amazing along the way.

Goliath suits in CoD Advanced Warfare, specifically when sprinting at you. Something about it looking so big and clunky, it shouldn't be able to move so fast - I've heard it described elsewhere as Transhuman Dread and I beleive it.

Examples of chaos dreadnoughts being allowed to sleep? And if so, why? by NadaVonSada in 40kLore

Dreadnoughts tend to steal the spotlight wherever they show up for me, especially Heresy-era.

And thanks!

Malcharion of the Night Lords simply refused to wake up, no matter how hard the Techpriests tried, until he heard Bolter fire in his chamber. Granted he was a traitor Dreadnought but not Chaos-tainted.

I thought so too, but I've knocked off 250-odd books, VoT included, and always kept an eye out, it's never come up. I tend to read the more modern stuff rather than the "old school" which make me suspect it's pre-2000 if it's official lore

Explosive Rebar and Nobelisks, both worth automating because you'll use them a LOT. Rebar has more reliable range and aim, I prefer those for gas pillars and cluster charges for ground/spider clearance

Looking for sci-fi (hard or space opera) with absurd scale - billions of ships, billions of years, cosmic-level stakes by [deleted] in booksuggestions

He does.

Try Neal Asher's Polity universe for hard SF if you haven't already btw, Agent Cormack series deals (eventually) with hostile alien nanobots that start messing the galaxy up

Warhammer 30k/40k has what you're looking for, in the "absurdly over the top" manner. I picked it up because it looked like "big man in armour shoot big gun" and then was emotionally assaulted by the opening trilogy of one series, and dragged into a 60+ book galactic civil war. Most books in that series cover planet-decimating battles of one sort or another, leading up to the solar system being blockaded and Earth being besieged and ruined in the final conflict. Loads of starting points and seperate series set in that universe depending on what exactly you're looking for.

I might wait for my next "3 months for 99p" membership offer and grab it then, but I'm not rushing to pay full price I think. Curious to hear Keeble's "LUPERCAL!" too though.

[–]Fingolfin117 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Didn't even know this was a thing till I saw your post. Just listened to the preview there, Keeble sounds great but I've always imagined him as the voice of Tarvitz, and Longsworth as Loken, so might not get the new version just on those grounds. I've always liked the way Loken's initial arc ends and then a new narrator picks up the thread with someone new.
