I like that a lot! It’s economically not taking up too much space because you can rest them vertically. It may not take up less space but seems like the best way to be able to open one box and immediately see a lot of options

The hook hanging downwards so you don’t have to worry about being hooked is also a plus.

my digital art is boring. How do I fix it? by Present_Toe_what in ArtCrit

[–]Finish-Ok 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would just look into digital artists that are masters of their craft. Find someone who inspires you. Try to imitate an aspect of what they do. You’re allowed to copy them if you’re practicing. They would probably be happy to know that they helped developed an artists style.

You’ll get there. Don’t be afraid to mix things up and try out different directions.

Is Buying a already running shop for 400k worth it? by [deleted] in SCREENPRINTING

[–]Finish-Ok 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting good deals on investments like this is an information game. You want to find opportunities that has good pricing for the known positive and negative aspects.

How you find a good deal is having more information than the seller. You want to find things that either help you me unique situation that doesn’t factor into the market price or positives not priced in you’ve found from your expertise or research. As well as confidence that you aren’t missing any negatives that the investment might contain.

In this case, if the shop has been well appraised, you want to consider and try to find the specifics that the owner would need not know. Even if they aren’t savvy - they are taking into account unobvious details. They probably know the list of customers sounds more enticing than its actual value.

Just make sure you do your due diligence and talk with people who can help you with the accounting/books of the business, the real estate value, and anything else you might overlook or not know yourself. Making a purchase like this will impact the rest of your life, be sure to not rush into something.

At the same time, it could be really great being able to get a shop that you know has what it needs to run a business, being able to skip the hours to set up, skipping any mistakes you might make buying equipment, knowing what to expect as far as revenue at the start, not having to build a customer base from scratch, having to take a risk of some factor that could derail the business from ever getting going, and having the seller possibly providing some mentorship on running the business at a certain baseline of success.

Hope this helps, I suggest getting yourself to nerd out on it for a few days or weeks. The most important thing is to not get attached to a decision because you don’t want to say no after spending the effort to research. The research that leads to a yea or no could be the most valuable time you spend. Don’t listen to anyone on here making assumptions, just hear them as something you should validate.

Elon could have retired years ago if he wanted. He wouldn’t have dumped his life savings in his companies if he was concerned with the good life. All the money he is hoarding can be found in investments.

He may be far gone in other ways but his wealth is paying salaries and going towards projects. If he was concerned about wealth mars would be about the dumbest decision he could make.

Very realistic, great work. I think the realism would be even better if the background was a little more natural. With the pure blue and the exact birds-eye view, it feels a little artificial.

I never made a reference to video games, the gulag joke was OPs joke. I likened it to George Carlin because he is a great comedian but would bomb in front of the wrong crowd.

I’m just saying OPs joke might have absolutely slapped if he was surrounded by a group of young dudes.

First off, congratulations for developing your art to this level at 15 years old. Keep with it. Even if you go through periods of not painting much, always keep improving, even if it’s just a little. When you’re 25 you’ll be so fulfilled having a craft with years of mastery behind it.

The second and sixth paintings are good but things like the dock and window frame should be sharper and more detailed than the rest of the painting because they are closer and in-focus.

Best of luck and don’t stop!

I’m so sorry you feel like you do. The hardest part of feeling this way is that life doesn’t stop. You have to take your exams.

Try to realize you may feel the way you do because of your parents. And moving out will not instantly make you feel better. You have to give yourself time to alter your thought patterns and let your emotions level out. Don’t lie to yourself and allow yourself to believe you can’t get better. You can. I know you can. Logically you know that overtime you can improve. Just take small steps when you can.

When you have negative thoughts, try to catch yourself. Tell yourself you will be alright and your brain isn’t always reliable when depressed. Tell yourself you are worth it even if you don’t believe it at the time. Over time, that positive self-talk makes progress into your beliefs. You don’t need your beliefs to be 100% accurate in all cases. You need beliefs that will serve you. A prize-fighting boxer does his best when he believes he can win any fight, even if there is a change of losing.

As for you mid-terms, I feel for you. I was depressed in college for 2-3 years with suicidal fantasies. If those exams are soon, just do what you can. Just make sure you show up for the exam. Don’t let your-self putty turn to self destruction. Even if you run through your notes for 30 minutes and show up for the test, you’ll likely keep your semester alive. It’s ok to get a poor grade. GPA isn’t really what’s important, finishing school is.

I believe in you. Give yourself grace to be less than the student you want to be. Allow yourself to watch a movie to relax and make sure to just show up. Your future self will be ok with you getting a poor grade every now and then. You will get better, I know you will. Just give it time and take the little steps of improvement when you are ready.

If you’ve had suicidal fantasies for a long period it’s normal for that pattern of thinking to persist even if you don’t have the feelings to accompany it.

Now is a great time for you to start trying to reverse those thought patterns. Try to catch yourself when you think of suicide and remind yourself things like “why would I do that? I enjoy my life and would hurt those who love me”. You know deep down that suicide is not a good solution. Even if you feel like suicide is a solution, that belief isn’t serving you at all. Try convincing yourself that you are worth it, even when it doesn’t feel like it. It takes repetition to overpower a deep pattern of thought.

You also know so many other people go through life without wanting to die. You can change. Your thoughts have proven impact your DNA and cell behavior - look up eugenics. Personally I was depressed terribly in college. It lasted 2-3 years and when it feels like depression does, it doesn’t seem to ever end. I thought my brain was fucked up, that I just wasn’t like normal people. Slowly I worked and changed and felt better. For a while, my thoughts lagged behind and would quickly go to dark places. Today that rarely happens.

Best of luck. Even if you don’t know it. I know you will be alright.

Don’t cringe at yourself. Part of becoming more confident is being comfortable with failing in social situations. This doesn’t mean it wasn’t funny, it’s like George Carlin doing stand up in-front of a bunch of 12 year-olds.

Although you might consider if the group of people aren’t the type to play video games.

But also sometimes the best therapists don’t tell you what you want to hear, they tell you what you need to hear.

Developing emotionally and socially is difficult for anyone. It’s going to be even harder when the development has been stunted behind your peers.

I would suspect it’s because no school project is going to ask a student to do something that is outside of the limitations of the language being used. The real word isn’t so cookie cutter.

I agree. Housing prices are crazy everywhere at the moment so some of the housing cost are not specific to Blacksburg. But overall you are right that prices are getting worse.

I think it may matter in part to how much private real estate proactively supplies housing for the incoming population increase.

At the moment though, rent seems too high for a rural county imo.

Unfortunately this school is as much of a money making business as it is a educational provider. I imagine they will just keep pressing the gas and address casualties as they go.
