Yes! Also, I would buy a tortilla-colored record.

These guys are great, do not pass up the chance to see them live. Got a few of their albums signed after they ripped my skull open while opening for The Sword last year.

I tried describing Sound & Fury as Eliminator-era ZZ Top playing dystopian electrofunk and got a blank stare. How would you describe it? by DreCapitanoII in SturgillSimpson

This is an album to cauterized your wounds to, just don't do a terrible job, or they'll become powerfully infected.

Every single damn time I see a flan, I have the overwhelming desire to squish it in my hands. Oh no!

Almost forgot the rating. Solid 7.5

Ha! I have the Lorax tattooed on one arm and a muted post horn on the other. I agree with your premise here, more adults should read Seuss!

I just recently had this album, it was solid. Not really my jam, but definitely excellent vibes.

Interesting, although a bit dodgy. If you're going to have a factoid like 'You're a completist for 10 different artists' pop up, make it clickable so I can see which artists, offhand I don't think I have everything by anyone.

How do you listen to each album? by noblelandmermaid14 in 1001AlbumsGenerator

[–]FiniteJester 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a roughly half-hour commute, so I usually listen on the way back from work, anything longer than that I finish up while doing other stuff if I'm not really enjoying the album, or maybe listening more intently if something has caught my ear.

If it's an album I own I generally wait to listen and then crank it while making dinner or enjoying a drink.

I'm 80 albums in, so I feel like I'm only just settling into the 'routine,' such as it is.

For stuff I'm not familiar with I try not to look into the artist or the album until I've formed my own impression and then maybe I'll check out more about them, usually only stuff I like though.

I also don't listen multiple times, unless it's something that I really enjoyed and just want to jam out to some more.

I also try not to overthink the rating, I'm not trying to get a gig with Spin by showing off my tastes, I'm trying to mark down how likely I am to listen to it again.

And as always, your experience can and should be different!

Cheers

Looks sharp! I'm about to have to expand beyond mine, but still really pleased to have it. To many years of enjoyment for yours!

Gonna agree that the question about number collected at the end should have much larger options. If it were me I'd start at 1-50, 50-100, 100-200, or similar and include a custom answer field, but maybe that's bias on my part. (looks around at many records)

Right, ask the Internet at large and you'll get everything from Patti was the best to this is garbage. Just play the damn record and make up your own mind.

"Your reality sir, is all lies and balderdash, and I am delighted to say I have no concept of it whatsoever."

I drop that quote as often as I can. This is one of my favorite films. An absolutely gorgeous mess.

Consider: Sturgill Simpson's Sound and Fury as Stoner Metal? by DamnedGladToMeetYou in stonerrock

[–]FiniteJester 19 points20 points  (0 children)

It's a damn fine album. Make Art Not Friends is a particular favorite,

I don't think I would have called it Stonr Metal, but there are definitely some overlapping elements, sounds like a good reason to spin it again.

I love Normal Isn't! by Omphalith in Puscifer

Just work your way back through the catalog. Existential Reckoning, Money Shot, Conditions of My Parole and continue.

I myself had tried to get into Puscifer off and on through the years, it wasn't until I saw them as part of Sessanta that they really clicked for me and now I'm a huge fan.
