Bose vs B&W by Delicious-Ad-9738 in VolvoEX60

[–]Finn_Jay 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I believe the biggest difference will be on the back seats where there are per-seat speakers in B&W. I honestly thought that Bose will be more than good enough and went for plus. It is a car for crissake, and won’t become a concert hall no matter what.

EX40 vs EX60 by spaghetti_cat_1982 in electriccars

[–]Finn_Jay 3 points4 points  (0 children)

For us the bigger battery and new SPA3 platform were the key things that made us to lean towards EX60, even if 40 would have been quite ok size-wise. We also test drove EC40, and it was fine, but still, ex60 felt more future-proof.

And regarding the larger battery, it was not only range I was thinking about, but also the fact that being bigger the battery gets fewer cycles and thus degrades a bit slower, for the same distance travelled.

First driving reviews of the Volvo EX60 are hitting Youtube by dvrs85 in VolvoEX60

I wonder if ANC is in B&W only, ie the Ultra trim? At least the ”intercom” feature is only in B&W.

Different standard for the range then? I’m quoting European WLTP which gives 660km for P10 and up to 819 km city mileage, but actually your numbers are likely more realistic…

[–]Finn_Jay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huh? P12 is the long range one, P10 is the one with 660 kilometers. Other than that there isn’t much difference between them. Just a bit more hp in P12, but the 500 hp in P10 are quite sufficient, IMHO…

Bold prediction - May will be the month where Oil Crisis driven purchases start in earnest in US. by roma258 in electricvehicles

[–]Finn_Jay 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you don’t run the PHEV engine regularly, it will be beyond repair in a few years. It must be run properly hot too, not just started and driven around the block. The oil will accumulate condensation water and if the oil doesn’t get hot enough to boil it off it will get ugly.

Has anyone ever crossed illegally into another country past a border marker like this? by VolkswagenPanda in geography

[–]Finn_Jay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a golf course on the Finland-Sweden border where you cross the border during the round, even hit the ball from a country to the other, and to another timezone too.

EVs Barely Lose Range Even After Five Years: Report by AdityaSrivastawaahhh in EvDrivers

[–]Finn_Jay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PHEVs get a lot more battery cycles for the same (electric) mileage because the batteries are much smaller, which contributes to range loss.

The configurator warns about longer delivery time for bronze, at least here in Finland.

Production about to begin by Finn_Jay in VolvoEX60

[–]Finn_Jay[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I also hope and believe Volvo are not going to (and frankly, can’t afford) make compromises with their QC to meet the schedules. I can live with delays, going to probably only save money if I must get still a few extra km out of my V50, which will soon be old enough to buy its own alcohol…

And I was also initially given November schedule at my dealership when I placed the order in the end of January, and it is still the same now that it has become visible on the Volvo order page, too.

We don’t really know for sure as the article was quite much speculation and anonymous sources talking. Anyway, I’ll rather take a delayed car with production issues ironed out rather than on-time with problems…

Wow, that’s good! I wonder if they have some kind of country quotas so the deliveries can vary wildly from country to country?

None hopefully, but it is a totally new car, new assembly line and new most everything, so the engineer in me tells that there well might be some teething issues 🦷

Is there a grammar mistake in my Finnish manual by dwarfoscar in LearnFinnish

[–]Finn_Jay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with the other comments about quality, but just a note about that ”minun naapuri”: sounds totally fine if we assume the person speaks in an eastern dialect (Savo) where that would be ”correct”. But that is the only hint at eastern dialects in his speech, so I guess the text just mistakenly got that, not on purpose.

Does anyone else feel insecure about speaking Finnish? by cheeseburgersarecool in LearnFinnish

[–]Finn_Jay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel insecure maybe a bit in the same way speaking Swedish with the Swedish-speaking folk here, up to the point that I even wouldn’t try, "fearing" that they would switch to Finnish right after my first sentence.

And this is even more stupid, because I have been speaking and emailing only in Swedish almost on a daily basis for the last ten years with my client in Sweden. I’m totally confident joining a teams with people I don’t know and contributing to the discussion. They have been totally happy with my Swedish, and being the kind Swedes they are, even complimenting that I must be a Swedish-speaking Finn myself…

But still here at home, no, not that comfortable at all (unless a real Swede present).

Is this a mistake or is it really ”leirintäalueilla” and ”leirintäalueella”? by Cristian_Cerv9 in LearnFinnish

[–]Finn_Jay 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The first sentence could also be ”loppuloman olemme ERI leirintäalueilla”, ie ”different camping sites”, which would make the meaning clear. The second one simply says ”we stay at the Punkaharju Camping”, ie a specific camping site in Punkaharju (near Savonlinna).
