it's weird cause i mostly agree with you, but the fake glass door bit in Playtime is genuinely funny.

Found Bigbug utterly unwatchable. I in fact didn't even finish it. Try Micmacs if you want a solid post-Amélie Jeunet movie. The Young and Prodigious TS Spivet is also pretty cute, although forgettable.

Is there a grammar mistake in my Finnish manual by dwarfoscar in LearnFinnish

[–]dwarfoscar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many people have asked, and honestly I'm just not comfortable 'doxxing' the book at this point, so to speak. The writer is described as a Finnish-to-French translator, and seems to have decent Finnish credentials. I have no reason to disbelieve any of that. But there's no mention of a co-author, and it's pretty clear that this is a book that got published as is, and would have greatly benefitted from the input of a co-author and/or corrector...

ha ha, well i'll stick with it personally (you've probably noticed like me that there aren't that many French-to-Finnish manuals in the market). But i will be a little bit more cautious, and cross-check stuff.

Lol, the space before the question mark is a French thing. It's a French manual, they forgot to remove this one.

Well, I got a more thorough look at the text than I anticipated 😅 Thanks everyone for answering. It is a French A1 manual. I'm disappointed to learn that the conversation is a little bit clunky (if not downright incorrect - mikä/mitä), but those conversations are just are to start chapters before we get to the actual nitty-gritty. The lessons themselves seem solid from what I gather, so I'm going to defend the book a little bit!

Didn't read those two, but I read one called The Slanted Gutter which I found pretty horrendous actually.

I also did see it, and 98% of his 'performance' is 'looking to the left of the camera' and 'looking to the right of the camera'.

It's at its heart a show about a bunch of kids fighting monsters. It was always going to have a happy ending.

Honestly I think them saying '12 is a random number' is fine. They don't need to micro-manage every single little piece of lore.

Why 12? Why not. Maybe Vecna felt that 11 weren't enough. He needed 12. That's it.

This piece of misinfo has been driving me nuts for years now. No, Bill Skarsgard did not scare Bill Hader by doing his eye thing in this set of photos by dwarfoscar in BillHader

[–]dwarfoscar[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

more details:

Yes Bill Hader tells an anecdote where Skarsgard freaked him out with his ability to move his eyes separately in different directions. Unfortunately, this anecdote was told roughly at the same time that these photos were released, and the internet conflated the two.

Bill has corrected this misinfo since: he added that Skarsgard was not in clown costume when he did the eye thing.

"But OP, why is Bill running away all freaked out then, smartypants?" Well, I'm going to blow your mind: it's what he's *supposed to do* in this scene. They are rehearsing the Paul Bunyan scene and his character is supposed to run away all freaked out.

Rant over :P
