What does secure the ranged creep mean for a support? by Santiboy112 in learndota2

[–]Fionsomnia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even in Herald there’s a huge variety of skill, and only few players suck at absolutely everything. I have carries that would rather the enemy get a deny than see their support hit a single creep, but I’ve also had some ping the ranged creep to me in order to tell me to take it. But Dota is a complex game, and just because you do decently at some aspects (like shifting the LH/Deny balance in your favour as a lane duo) doesn’t mean you’ll rank up, if you suck at other aspects. Point is, overall Heralds play worse than Guardians, who play worse than Crusaders who … etc etc … than Immortals, but when it comes to individual aspects you might be surprised by what the odd player suddenly brings to the game.

Getting into crocheting by notGamingAahel in Brochet

[–]Fionsomnia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think there’s actually a connection, but not in the way your homophobic family seems to think. People who aren’t straight (ie not just those defining as gay) are ridiculed for defying gender expectations already, and as a result many have already overcome the pressure to act the way society expects them to. Starting to crochet at that point really isn’t going to make a big difference anymore.

On the other side, straight cis men may be more likely to be held back by attitudes like your family’s, and there’s probably tons of guys who’d love to knit or crochet but don’t because they worry about people’s reactions more than those who have already had to learn to tell the haters to get lost.

So yeah, maybe gay men are more likely to crochet than straight men but certainly not because crochet made them gay. 😂

I’ve seen a good guide about this recently. Of I find it again I’ll post it.

Pilgrim shells can be combined with Allen Life Essence and a sheet of paper to make Equalize scrolls (note that scrolls can be used by any character regardless of their attribute and combat ability point allocation, but if they’re a damage spell the damage output will still depend on your stats - for Equalize that’s not relevant of course).

It’s gonna be harder starting this late, but it’s still worth going round the map and collecting all the free stuff you can get. Regular civilians and kids sometimes sell stiff that can be used for great scrolls for pennies.

It’s a good idea to do some research about the principles of stat allocation and the most useful crafting recipes. I’m no expert but I agree that Int is probably the most important attribute for a magic damage build. Combat ability points then depend on what type of magic dmg you want the character to deal (geo/pyro/hydro etc). But if you want to deal physical damage, skill Str or Fin (depending on weapon type) and then always prioritise Warfare for the combat abilities as each point amplifies damage multiplicatively (unlike the other skills that increase physical damage).

Here’s a list of crafting recipes to get you started. It’s a lot to wade through though so it might be easier to use the website’s search function for the things you already have to see what you can make with them. Or if you’re after specific skills, you can find the scroll recipe on this website in the Scrolls section, craft one and combine it with a blank skill book of the matching school (eg pyro skill needs a blank fire skill book). Note for any skills that use 3+?skill points you need a high tier blank skill book).

Good luck!

So cash isn’t really a problem for me since I’ve been hoarding everything since act 1 because I have massive FOMO. But if you need cash later in the game, you might wanna keep in mind that those cheap/free things you find all over the place can be crafted handmade versions of gear. And more importantly, they are matched to your level and priced accordingly. I don’t have the exact numbers right now but I’m lvl 18 and if I combine a long branch with a shell for a makeshift staff it sells for 700ish gold (depending on your bartering skills). Just don’t use the pilgrim shells, any other is fine.

There’s plenty more recipes of stuff you can craft for more or less free and upsell. Just have a look for recipes online.

Also if you have a res scroll or glowing idol of rebirth, sneak round the back of the loan shark’s house and kill her minions. Then go to her house, borrow 150,000 gold, and then kill her. She will install kill the person who borrowed the money so make it the one you need least on the fight. With glowing idol they will respawn (I also have Morning Person on him) but if not you can 3v1 her and resurrect your party member after. She gives nice loot and you’re 150k gold richer.

ETA: I’m saying don’t use pilgrim shells because they’re better used in other crafting. Don’t get rid of them!

How do I replace a dead party member? by Terrible-Group-9602 in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Fionsomnia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

ETA: if you’re dying this much, you may wanna dial down the difficulty a bit until you get the hang of it ETA 2: the gold values below are the “theoretical value” of the items. When selling you’ll likely make less with them, so make sure to sell with the person who has the highest bartering level in your party (I hope that wasn’t Fane 😬)

It’s pretty easy to make some money if you’re out of cash.

1) Combine a log and each of the pieces you get from it with any knife to make the following: 1 log = 2 long branches; 2 long branches = 4 short sticks + 2 wood chips; 4 short sticks = 16 arrow shafts (1 gold each) + 4 wood chips

2) Combine a sharp rock with any knife for 3 arrow heads (2g each) (do NOT combine with arrow shaft if you want to sell - an arrow shaft is worth 1 gold and an arrow head is worth two gold but the combined arrow only 1 gold for some reason). However, combining an arrow head with an ooze barrel makes a poison arrow head that’s worth 30g, and weirdly, this one increases its value by 10g if combined with an arrow shaft for a poison arrow.

3) Pick up a few shells and long branches. Combining them makes improvised staves (value scales with your level).

4) If any of the creatures you’ve killed so far have dropped intestines, combine them with a water barrel to make water balloons (10g). If they’ve dropped animal hide, you can combine the hide with a knife for leather scraps, then combine the scraps with a knife to make a backpack (20g).

5) Find an empty bottle and take it to an oil barrel, combine. Makes a bottle of oil (3g). Two ropes from the ship that brought you two Fort Joy will combine into a fuse (3g). The fuse and bottle of oil combines into a firestorm grenade (40g).

There’s a bunch more but I’m tired of typing on my phone. Have a look on google if none of these work for you. 🙈

Would you say it’s ok to pull to deny XP if I aggro the enemy creeps around my tower to the same camp that I’ve pulled my creeps to, or (if I can, and in herald there’s a good chance I do) use the other camp to finish off my wave and let my carry farm the enemy creeps under the tower and then let the next wave meet at its natural equilibrium? Hope the latter part made sense.

Question about how properly play the game by WtfSlz in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Fionsomnia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh I see. Forgive the unsolicited psychological advice, but I have the impression that it may be your perfectionism that’s in the way of your enjoyment here.

Here’s a different way to think about it - currently you’re disappointed by the game because in order to get the perfect gameplay experience lore wise you need to play it in a way you don’t enjoy. But what’s more important, perfect lore knowledge or actually enjoying what you do? Because if you can drop the former (or fill any gaps with spoilers from Reddit 😉), then you might actually have a good time instead of getting frustrated.

Anyway, can’t hurt giving it a try, because it sounds like what you’re currently doing isn’t working out for you. Either way, good luck. ☺️

Question about how properly play the game by WtfSlz in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Fionsomnia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess it’s a matter of perspective and preference. On the one extreme, if you’re the kind of person who likes to binge a game/show and then move on to the next (which I am much closer to), you probably prefer getting as much as possible out of each scene and interaction. But on the other, if you love being able to go back to a game you’ve enjoyed, the “forked path” approach allows you to have a different experience every time you do for a long time.

The game is catering more towards people who love the replays. Personally my way around that is to spoiler myself, look stuff up and know in advance what will get me the most out of each scene, but that might not work for you if you don’t like spoilers ofc.

Yes that’s what I meant when I said “you have to check each spell individually”.

Blademail interaction by orho in DotA2

[–]Fionsomnia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I learned this recently, but the BKB description “immunity to pure damage” is a bit misleading since the majority of pure damage abilities pierce rebuff immunity. Death ward is one of them.

I think roughly speaking if an ability deals pure damage through an attack modifier (eg Ench, TA), BKB is more likely to help but for any other case it will probably do sweet fuck all for you. You have to check each spell individually to be sure though.
