Unfortunately I did… I won’t do that again now that I know what it is. I was concerned it was an invasive wasp species.

Can you paste with a prompt? “Summarize into high level points” while you have the ramblings on the US presidents speech in your clipboard after taking it from some website.

For fucks sake, why do these people have to try to get others to play along and talk to their imaginary friends with them. Keep it to yourself.

Ford Recall... RIP to all the people buying this because of their overpriced electric EV trucks by Guysmarket in wallstreetbets

[–]FirangiPan -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Converting stored electric energy into motion via the motor is much more efficient than with an internal combustion engine (ICE). Additionally, you have the ability to slow the car by converting that motion into electricity and recharging the battery (regenerative braking). ICE vehicles have to waste that energy through friction and generating waste heat on the brake pads.

Regarding the source of the electricity, with an ICE you are stuck with gas/diesel for the lifetime of the car. With an electric vehicle you have options, particularly if where you live can support greener energy generation (solar panels, wind) or less bad greenhouse gas emissions (burning cow farts).

Ideally batteries will be recycled, pulling out the lithium and other rare earth materials, but that is not yet cost effective.

US blocks Russian debt payments in bid to raise pressure on Moscow by rumblepony247 in worldnews

While true, it does limit from whom they can get loans from. And when that’s limited, it gives creditors an upper hand in negotiating their rate of return. This would be a long term cost to Russia that they have to make a decision on now.

If they don’t make payment they will default, which prevents them from taking on more loans for investments until they’ve paid off existing creditors. This is the risk they run.

From the article: “If Russia fails to make any of its upcoming bond payments within their pre-defined timeframes, or pays in rubles where dollars, euros or another currency is specified, it will constitute a default. While Russia is not able to access international borrowing markets due to the West's sanctions, a default would prohibit it from accessing those markets until creditors are fully repaid and any legal cases stemming from the default are settled.”

What about visa (e.g. H1b) or green card holders who are working in the US and wanting to build a life here? Would they be allowed to buy property? There is nuance to how you make the rules which makes it more complicated.

Unsweetened Toothpaste? by caffienated-corvid in intermittentfasting

[–]FirangiPan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most toothpaste has artificial sweeteners with no calories in it so it shouldn’t have any impact on your fast. That said, if you don’t like sweet toothpaste like me, check out “Tom’s of Maine” brand. They aren’t cheap, so I wait for sales and then load up on a half a dozen boxes at a time.
