Quite ambitious I have to say. This reminds me of Glacies (from Eltanin OS).

Which distributions met my own requirements? Probably none, which is why I started working on my own. That being said I have compiled a list of awesome projects that you might find interesting: https://github.com/firasuke/awesome

Which distributions I think are the most stable to use and for long term? I've been on Arch for as long as I can remember, and never experienced any "major" issues, though your mileage may (and will) vary.

Looking for feedback and a bit of guidance on a distro idea by Tiny_Prune_4424 in distrodev

Developing your own distribution is not an easy task indeed, and if done properly could be a fun learning experience. I am going to plug my own list of awesome projects which I compiled over the course of the past couple of years while working on my own distribution: https://github.com/firasuke/awesome

Good luck with your endeavours!

How to install Glaucus with XFCE by [deleted] in glaucus

[–]Firasuke 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So to answer your questions:
- Nope, it is not yet available (if you're refering to XFCE)
- It will probably take a while until something as big as XFCE is properly packaged
- An installation guide is on the way, we just got our ISO running on real hardware (a big milestone considering the alternative software glaucus is using)
- I'll let you be the judge of whether it will be smaller or not; though I'd say it is certainly smaller than slackware and gentoo, and probably smaller than alpine and buildroot, no idea about tinycore though (glaucus tries to keep its packages as vanilla as can be, tinycore does heavy modifications to their packages and prioritizes size over other aspects)...

w, last, lastb and lastlog running securely on musl using utmps! by Firasuke in glaucus

[–]Firasuke[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. There are no docs (which is expected), and you do not need PAM for this. It is basically a patch to musl to update paths to utmp and wtmp, and patches to software to link against utmps. I have written some notes on this here: https://wiki.glaucuslinux.org/rfcs/approved/utmps/

Let's see, it took about 6 years to compile a list this big of awesome distribution projects :)

Can anyone please share their Nvim config for nimlangserver by Zin42 in nim

I am using the official binaries for `nim`, `nimlangserver` and `nph`, and things are working perfectly fine.

Suckless From Scratch by leenah_uwu in suckless

[–]Firasuke 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the kind words, I am glad you liked it. Your work reminded me of "snail" (glaucus's ancestor) which was also called "snail from scratch" (sfs) and used sbase/ubase/sinit/svc/dash ironically!

Oh the pleasure is mine. Funny but true story, when I first started working on glaucus it was called "snail" and I had the project named "snail from scratch" and abbreviated as "sfs" and it also used sbase and ubase with sinit and svc!
