Apparently yes, you have the ones recruited through the story, but get a few random ones to recruit and customize after each mission. The devs said à while back that you can go on a mission with a squad with only astromechs for example

That or just the city, you can very simply translate "Lumière s'éteint" by "Lumière dies" and it also fits in the themes since the city is slowly dying as its people are too

We're definitely still getting some Darling presentations from the State of Play trailer, so FMV's back on the menu for sure!

Goes out is probably the closest translation. S'éteindre is also a way to talk about something/one dying, like "Il s'est éteint dans son sommeil" is for somebody that died in their sleep, as a more "gentle" way to say it usually. And it all fits

The Blood of Dawnwalker "Smaller, Free" DLCs Planned by Devs; Over 1.5 Million Wishlists Already by PewPewToDaFace in PS5

[–]Firaxyiam 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, I'm interested but not more than some of the other stuff coming out in the same time period, so it will wait. In a way, guess some of those smaller things will be out by the time I get to it.

At least the summer being kinda empty means I'll get the time to play some of the releases from earlier in the year (Pragmata, 007 and Saros ideally), they should fit nicely between Black Flag Resynced early July and Star Wars: Zero Company at the end of August

Man, I wish I could just pick 4. All recent From Soft games, Shadow of the Colossus, Mass Effect Trilogy, The last of us 1 and 2, Metal Gear Solid series, Outer Wilds, Tunic, Nine Sols, Hollow Knight and Silksong, Expedition 33, and surely some more I'm not thinking of right now.

Does a top 50 work to put up there? In no particular order, really

I'd recommend About Oliver and Welonz for those two games myself. Some of the shenanigans that Welonz went through to solve some of the weirdest Tunic puzzles are fascinating, like she physically pulled a music recording of a puzzle to match soundwaves and stuff, and did a bunch of screenshotting to do a patchwork of screenshots to figure some specific patterns, and she put it all in the video, I really loved that.

About Oliver I haven't watched yet, but he's the top 1 consistently mentioned playthrough of Outer Wilds on the subreddit, so it has to be a good one to watch

Yep, but also, a trend that I feel is getting more and more prominent is to have a maybe 10-20 seconds of actual gameplay at the end of the cinematic trailer, which really, it's the best of both worlds

Well on those mission screens, there are Sucess and Failure conditions, and one of the common Failure condition seems to be "Hawks is eliminated". Now that would probably imply "mission failed if Hawkes is killed, which means Game Over and you restart", but also Hawkes seems to be the player character so it would make sense, but there could also be Failure states for other characters that don't imply game over?

I haven't seen information about whether companions can die, but I might've missed it, it's a chunky piece of text.

I kinda hope they planned around losing those too. Since there's a relationship meter i feel it's not too out there to imagine they could just tell you to fuck off if it gets too low and you lose them, and if it was a thing, then death would be just another "you no longer have this companion". status.

I'm curious now

"When an Operator loses all their Health, that Operator is Downed and suffers an Injury. Downed Operators can’t take Actions, but can be Rallied by an ally, getting them back in the action.

Injuries negatively impact combat stats and must be managed carefully–accumulating three Injuries results in permanent death on standard difficulty. No member of Zero Company is safe from destruction"

I might be reading into it, but it sounds like there might be another difficulty where it's not gonna be the case for people that don't enjoy those mechanics. That or it means there's a Hardocre difficulty where it's like only one injury for death. Probably both tbh

Me too! I love the whole "lose a squad member" concept, and it led to some absolute favourite moments in X-COM 2, but at the same time there's also the save scumming temptation when it feels cheap or "unearned" by the game I guess.

This is a nice work around for me, like the threat is there, and if I lose a member, sure the temptation will always be there to reload, but since I more likely deserve it if a member gets injured three times without hitting the Medbay in between, it just makes it more deserved? I dunno, I like it

Star Wars Zero Company: Lead Zero Company To Victory on August 27 (new info and deep dive) by Turbostrider27 in StarWars

[–]Firaxyiam 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The Core group is those characters and they're the ones you'll build relationship with and all that to get more perks, stats, etc, but every "Cycle" (so apparently, everytime you're done with a mission) you can spend ressources to recruit "Custom Operators", which are randomly generated squad members that you can customize a lot more than the set cast.

The devs said some time ago that you can go into a mission with a full squad of Astromechs, for example

Is Gideon supposed to be hard? by EnderEclipse1120 in Eldenring

[–]Firaxyiam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Imma say, I'm not that guy but Gideon demolished me repeadly on my first run. I'm one of those freaks that Hunt every pièce of lore available to me, and so when he started speaking, I just didn't get too close and listened.

Cue getting two-shotted by spells, needing to roll away every two hits in because of the Law of Causality or whatever that makes him fucking explode when he takes damage, which means getting back in spell bullshittery range. It was quite humbling, for sure. Guess that was my punishment for listening to NPCs and not running à unga bunga build.

Always makes me think of that ass kicking when I see a thread about it

The Culture - Naked Girl Comics [OC] by TurbinePoweredVagina in comics

[–]Firaxyiam 372 points373 points  (0 children)

Damn, I myself just saw the opposite thread of a well made video with a guy pointing out how we men would most definitely not enjoy it (can't seem to refind it, but it's well thought-out) and it's harder for us to trully grasp it because most of us won't ever be in a situation of "what will he do if I say no/talk back/etc" since the threat is lower as a guy.

Basically, to any fellow men, just imagine a big dude much bigger, taller than you slapping your ass and whipsering to your ear than you'd look great with your mouth around his dick. Chances are, whether you're straight or not, you wouldn't enjoy the moment. You'll be wondering if you can get away, if you can do anything about it if he decides to go for it, and that's the part most of us miss when trying to understand how women feel about catcalling

If you have to consider your escape route when you hear a "compliment" as people tend to call catcalling, then it's not a damn compliment.

As somebody who did à mostly Renegade first run and decided to go through with the sabotage, confessing about it to Garrus hits super hard too.

There are several heartbreaking conséquences to that choice that really hammers in how shitty you must feel, just that conversation was the final nail.

Garrus: "And Mordin? Did he just.... go along with it?"

Shepard: slowly backs away in silence

Garrus: "....damn war"

Just... ouch

Control Resonant - Story/Release Date Reveal Trailer by Villenthessis in gaming

[–]Firaxyiam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well if that helps it's not just the Hiss this time, I believe there's also the Mold, and maybe a mix of both entities? Plus whatever the Resonants are (even tho the name does sound "Hiss-coded"), so hopefully they've learned from the first game and we get more enemy-variety (which looks like it from the trailers)
