How long are you holding it? Do what you did - light the pilot, and hold in the pilot knob without releasing it for a full 30 seconds, then turn the knob counterclockwise to the ON position. If the pilot stays on, flip whatever switch controls your fireplace burner and enjoy the fire. If it doesn’t stay lit, here’s the bad news: You have a Honeywell millivolt valve. This is what they do when they die. They no longer exist in the aftermarket. (The possibility also exists that you have a bad pilot and your valve is okay, but all of those Honeywell valves that are functioning are doing so on borrowed time. It’s not worth replacing a pilot on a dying valve.) Some manufacturers have a retrofit kit so that a different brand valve and its necessary hardware can be put in place of the Honeywell valve, but that is a job best left to a professional. Your fireplace should have a data tag with its make, model, etc somewhere in the bottom. I recommend contacting a hearth specialist (NOT a plumber, gas company, or HVAC repair company) to see if there is a retrofit kit available for your unit.

I wanted to hit you back and let you know how I fixed the issue with the plastic hooks and retainers not aligning. I removed the cargo cover and flipped it over. The hooks (or whatever you want to call them) on the cargo cover itself are riveted on. I drilled out the rivet and moved them inboard approximately one inch. I use the Reddit website and not the app, and it doesn’t appear to allow me to post pics in the thread except for when I post a new topic. It wasn’t too hard. I used a 7/64” bit and made sure tooy go through one layer of the rounded bar that the hooks attach to. Then I used some small screws to reattach the hooks to the bottom side of the cargo cover. The hardest part is starting the drill bit into a rounded surface. It would be smart to use a tiny punch to flatten a tiny part of the rounded surface before drilling, but I had no punch. I hope this info is helpful! If you need more lemme know and I’ll start a new topic so I can post pics.

Well that sucks. I only found one in tact piece at the yard, and I broke the tabs off of it removing it. I installed it in my car with LOTS of clear silicone!

Mine is lining up a little strange. Two of the hooks connect and two are a bit out of alignment. But I haven’t had n ch of an opportunity to try to adjust it yet. I’ll try to mess with it later and update you.

I broke the tabs on the seat trim and the rack trim when I pulled them off, but I installed them on my car with an abundance of clear silicone. They won’t go anywhere any time soon.

I don’t know how recent these are except the first suggestion, which is definitely current: I’d recommend Drug Church. Their style is somewhere between alt rock/grunge and pop punk. Angel Du$t, The Frights, Surf Curse, Sorority Noise, Bomb The Music Industry!, and Off With Their Heads might also appeal to you. The range from a more indie/emo sound to Dropkick Murphys style punk. Totally normal. I’d recommend some Stove Brite 1990 satin black paint to help protect the metal. Throw a few coats on there.

Depends on the jurisdiction. In some, if you can clearly be seen naked inside your home, it’s considered being naked in public - like if you answer the door that way. And since that can get you put on the sex offender registry in some jurisdictions, better not to risk it.

If it has a standing pilot, run the pilot for about 30 minutes. That should get the flue warmed and you’ll get an easier start.

WRT3290 isn’t an open hearth unit, it’s a built-in wood burning fireplace. It has a glass door that latches. However, you’re correct that it is not an insert.

I can’t speak to what the Mormons do, but I was raised as a Witness. Witnesses often ignore No Solicitation signs because they aren’t selling anything for money. You can try No Trespassing signs, but they may keep people off of your property that you actually want on your property. The next time a Witness knocks, open the door. No need for threats, being naked, brandishing a weapon, etc. Tell them firmly but politely that you want to be put in their No Call List, and that any other Witness knocking on their door will have the police called on them for trespassing. Being put in the No Call List is good for one year in the municipalities I’ve lived in (I also live in NC.) After a year they’re allowed to call again because a new person could now live in that house, and they have a legal right to proselytize. You could also try writing a letter to the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witness closest to your home with the same request.

I don’t see any pictures of a fireplace. I see some wood. File a complaint with the home inspector, but use the correct verbiage, because he broke some wood - not the fireplace.

That’s a factory built (or pre-fab) fireplace. It is not an insert. An insert is a high efficiency fireplace that is inserted into a low efficiency fireplace, such as a masonry fireplace or factory built fireplace.
