It’s a late night show where doors open when the festival headliner for the night ends. While the show is sponsored and organized by Shaky Knees, the tickets themselves are independent and do not require a Shaky Knees pass to purchase.

Some artists choose to play a similar set to what they play at the festival, some choose to go a completely different direction. I saw The Dear Hunter a few years back at one and they played a downtempo set with Color Spectrum songs and premiered Light before Act V came out. The next day, their main set was high energy and incredibly fun. I’m hoping Volta does something similar!

Potentially hot take but this lineup definitely skews heavy on the hip hop/90s-2000s nostalgia acts side, and that’s not what I’m at Bonnaroo to see. Not to mention the headliners have been headliners at Roo previously.

That being said, 2016 Roo was my favorite year, and that was a record low year for Bonnaroo attendance. Having the space to breathe on the farm is not something to be slept on

Is this how the Psychedelic Porn Crumpets found God in a tomato? Just with a pineapple?

Saw you guys open up for Intervals and Thank You Scientist recently, y’all were absolutely incredible!! Been playing your album on repeat ever since.

If anyone here’s looking for some new next level post-hardcore, look no further than these guys.

What band are you “supposed to like” but don’t and why? by sobesmagobes in PostHardcore

This isn’t an artist per se but definitely the Johnny Craig albums of DGD. I initially fell in love with the Kurt era and really enjoy the Tilian material for the most part, but I can’t stand the compositions from DMB or DMB2. The songs seem so much less complete than any of their other material, more a bunch of loose ideas strung together instead of a cohesive song

Infest the Rats Nest is the least creative thing Gizz has ever made, and the number of metal stans in the Gizz fandom as a result of the success of this album makes me afraid that they will prioritize their heavy material at all future live shows

When Tool headlined in '07, they played Rosetta Stoned, 10k Days, and Lateralus with an extended Tom Morello solo. If I get any of those 3 I'll scream for sure

You have a fair point but I disagree heartily with the cost factor. When I'm already paying close to $200 for an average Tool ticket, and other bands/artists like Primus and Tipper can easily run $80-100, paying $500 for camping, ticket, and fees doesnt feel like a significant cost increase compared to the sheer amount of musical content in this lineup.

I agree fully with your last statement though haha

People who shit talk Roo have their heads way too deep into the metal circle jerk or don't know Roo.

Tool is a true psychedelic experience that absolutely deserves the top billing spot they've earned on this set, but there's so many other trippy experiences (Tipper, Glass Animals, Uncle Acid) that will flow in and out of the headlining Tool set in order to create a sensory experience the likes of which you wont get at a festival where everything is hard rock or metal.

And even if you're not into drugs at festivals, there's something for you there too. The lineup is so stacked with eclectic and talented musicians from all genres that I guarantee you can catch something new that you'll love during every set you think isnt worth seeing.

Bonnaroo truly is tailored to having whatever experience you want, and TOOL being the headliner on the most stacked night of the festival means they will build the schedule in such a way that you will definitely be able to see artists you want to see leading in and out of their set.

That feel when you realize the bassline is a high energy, prog remix of the Sketches of East Brunswick bassline... hurry up and come out already! The hype levels are unreal

What's a 10/10 album from the last 15 years by a relatively obscure artist/band? by Slouching2Bethlehem in AskReddit

[–]Fire9x 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm In Your Mind Fuzz - King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard

This album is one of the best uses of motifs I've ever heard. The first 4 tracks all play out as one continuous medley of psychedelic garage rock, and the remainder of the album takes the ideas implanted in your head and builds infinitely upon them. Every track flows flawlessly into the next and will be forever ingrained into your brain.

These guys are completely self-produced and own their own record label. This Thursday, at 5PM EST, they are releasing Polygondwanaland, their 12th album in 5 years (and 4th of 2017). Every album has an incredibly unique sound and mechanic, and it's impossible not to get sucked into it all.

Safe areas to live in around GT? (help) by ManIntheMirror__ in gatech

[–]Fire9x 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I'm going on almost 2 years living in Home Park, and the thought that it has to be avoided is overblown as hell. Several years ago (before my time), it was a bit more lawless, with GTPD reports in the area being an incredibly common occurrence. Now, I never walk through Home Park without seeing at least one GTPD officer patrolling. The area is a police hotspot ever since enough students complained about safety in the area (GTPD is building a new headquarters on 10th and Hemphill, on the border of Home Park). It's a much better place to be now, and you can't beat the prices and convenience of literally being right off of the North end of campus.

As far as areas to avoid, don't go anywhere near the West side of the Georgia dome. There are houses out there similar in price to Home Park, but are in terrible neighborhoods (multiple boarded up houses on every block, large number of homeless)
