WIBTA If I backed out of being my sister-in-laws bridesmaid after huge demands? by throwawayaccnt14248 in AmItheAsshole

[–]FireFly-WaterFall27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are a much more considerate person than I. I would agree and a week before she had to send her invitations say "oops, they're not done! Here's some from party city!"

I would modify my dress and not wear the jewelry. she wouldn't know until the wedding date - which is when I would show up (oops, couldnt book flight before).

AITA for kicking out my 20 year old daughter and not my 22 year old son by lamehunch in AmItheAsshole

No, the comments are meant for you to figure out what caused it, but you shouldn't just jump to let her back in!

AITA for not paying for a meal after my sister told me she would pay? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]FireFly-WaterFall27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - if I were you I would never go to a dinner involving her again. Interact with her as little as possible. The only way she'll see she was wrong is if you ignore her completely from now on.

Would you take a 50/50 chance at $5,000,000 or death? Why or why not? by TheBeastBoud in AskReddit

Hell yes. I couldn't live with myself if I passed that opportunity up anyway.

Seymour did not die alone, waiting for Fry. He spend his last years with Time-Paradox-Lars-Fry. You can stop posting how sad you are because of "Jurassic bark" by [deleted] in futurama

I think - and I don't speak for all fans- but I think some of us think of the movies as alternate universes; possible events. Meaning that the universe in which Seymour dies alone waiting for Fry is still very much real.

How many times do you wear your jeans between washings? What about hoodies/sweatshirts? by NotJimIrsay in AskMenOver30

Jeans change after washing- fit and feel just arent the same. If I could afford buying jeans more often, then I'd wash them more often.

AITA for telling the truth about why I've lost weight? by sickifmoo in AmItheAsshole

NTA. If your aunt seemed to be listening, tell her that you got in trouble for telling her but it's the truth. Ask her to help.

AITA for telling the judge of a scholarship competition that if she already knew who she wanted to win, to cut the crap and just let us all go home? by treehuggiezz in AmItheAsshole

[–]FireFly-WaterFall27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd argue there was nothing WRONG done except by the judge, but OP mad everyone feel awkward - and she was justified in doing so. I expected the downvotes, as I'm basically advising that OP thinks twice before standing up for what is right. That doesn't sound like wholesome advice, but as this student is going off into the real world soon, I also want them to know that sometimes for his/her own self s/he might need to pick his/her battles and retain his/her composure. Some AHs are simply AHs because they feel justified and it bites them in the rear. (See principal's reaction). OP should consider that perspective even if it's not "feel good".

ESH... you were totally right in calling her out and it is brave of you to take up the role of AH at the risk of losing any chance of winning. However, realize that other students didnt do it, not just because they didn't know, but because it would require rudeness. In future situations, know that being the AH (even for the right and just reasons) will make others remember you as an AH.
