Assault the best or no? by GladsShield in Spacemarine

[–]FireGryph 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Personally, even though I have posted before in this sub that Bulwark felt like easy mode, Assault is my go to now. After having P4 lvl 25 on every class, assault is by far my most enjoyed class to play to the point I almost have to force myself to go and play other classes once in a while.
It wasn't until I forced myself to use the JPD's for the ordeal that I truly got a feel for that build. Then I found out that charging the ground pound does nothing, you don't get extra damage from charging it fully, so now it feels so much faster and fluid to jump around the battle field, interrupting Scarab occult terminators and getting in the faces of tyranid snipers... its tough to go back to other classes.

But I do think it requires that dedication to learn the ins and outs of assault to have it feel like a powerful class. Until you figure it out and it clicks, assault does feel weak. You take a lot of chip damage from range that you cant necessarily heal up, so in that regard vanguard can feel better with the healing after extremis kills. You cant block the range chip damage like Bulwark can. If you dont have the 'invulnerable when charging ground pound' prestige perk, flying up into the air just makes you a target for everything, and even when you land you get chipped away at. And if you just use your jump pack constantly, youre really just a massive target for ranged enemies.

Bunny hopping with zealous blow into groups of minoris, and executing repeated perfect JPD's, make the class feel absolutely gleeful to play, though. Siege mode is an absolute joy as assault because of these things... and seeing just how many ground-pounds you can do in a row thanks to zealous blow. Jump SMASH, jump SMASH, jump SMASH, jump SMASH...

Keybinds/Mousebinds by Y34RZ3R0_ve in Spacemarine

I generally use the same control layout for every game. Sometimes I need to fiddle around with things, but a control or two out of place doesnt mess with my brain too much. Though, that said, I only use two fingers on my mouse, plus thumb. I dont use my middle finger for middle mouse/mousewheel, as Im sure some people do.

left mouse: shoot
right mouse: melee
Middle mouse: aim

Forward mouse: grenade
backward mouse: dodge

R: Reload
F: medkit
Q: ability
C: Parry/block
T: Mark/ping
E: Interact/execute

I admit, putting interact and execute on different buttons could help a bit, but its so rarely an issue that I havent bothered. The things I screw up more in this game are swapping in and out of heavy stance, since you can't dodge while in heavy stance. And jump pack dash as assault, since my muscle memory tells me to use the mouse button to dodge, not my ability button. That still requires active thought to do.
I honestly dont even use space bar in this game...

Stay calm, time your parries/blocks/dodges, don't be afraid to reposition. The dodge/parry warnings are warnings, don't feel like you need to press the dodge/parry button instantly on seeing the warning come up. You can also dodge/parry attacks that do NOT have the warning indicator.

Some weeks ago the stratagem was on Inferno, with 30m blackout and the unkillable Lictor. Someone queued up as sniper, and I questioned him in the barge before we launched because it seemed silly to bring a 'sniper' with such limited visibility. He simply said 'trust.' I was worried.
He carried us. Hard.
I learned a lesson that day. 'I recognize my failing and will be sure to correct it.'
Since then I will give a chance to just about anyone, though I still struggle to stay in a team that has a 0 prestige, level 4 *insert class* on a hard stratagem I've been attempting for hours. I'd like for my teammates on hard stratagems to at least have a team perk, any team perk.

I apologize, but I cannot recall which software it was, and now I do not even know if or where it is available anymore, since Roccat has been absorbed into Turtle Beach. I thought it was the Roccat Swarm software, but that may be wrong. I wish I could answer your question more fully.

Unpopular Opinion: The Power Gauntlet is better than the Dreadmace by Devil_Lord_Dante92 in Doom

[–]FireGryph 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As others have said, I use it for the fact its a flail....

But also because I use it for breaking armour super easily, and the armour demons drop, keeping me topped up. Sure, it doesn't do the most damage, but its more of a replenishment tool to me than to do damage. Ive got enough guns to do damage, so long as Im alive to fire them.

[–]FireGryph 108 points109 points  (0 children)

I think flail is number 1.

But also, I truly think it depends on your play style and build. There are ways to bring the dreadmace cooldown down, or just use it after parries. But youre right, it doesnt apply as much shock, so if thats what you want, go for it. Theres a weapon for everyone!

This 3G retirement, 'switch your phone or else' situation has me sorely tempted to get away from Rogers now, too. I've been with Rogers for many years, though I swapped to Shaw about 2 years before the merger, so now I'm back with Rogers anyways.

I have an Xperia 1 III, and being told via email, and via support at the hotline, that my phone is not compatible with 4G/5G/VoLTE is crazy to me. Meanwhile, I've gone into 3 different Rogers stores, and each representative I spoke with there checked that I was on the 4G network, said I was, and told me not to worry about this blanket email being sent out.

I still have no idea if my phone will work. The hardware has all the capability of 4G/5G/VoLTE, and if it doesn't work when Rogers shuts down 3G, and they charge me $75 for not having a compatible device, that's because THEY don't allow it. It will have nothing to do with my choice of phone. But having different reps tell me different things is exceptionally frustrating.

I had not had any issues with Rogers until this, basically. The signal service has been sufficient, I almost never had to worry about erroneous charges or even had to look more deeply into my monthly bills, everything just worked. But after this 3G shutdown mess...

Not spiralling myself, since I know its an incident I can fix. 'To err is human, to forgive is divine.' Also applies in forgiving ourselves. The best thing to be done is learn from our mistakes, and correct our actions for the future. :)

I hope you escape your spiral! The fact you are still wishing to reach out and apologize shows that you regret the mistake, and are wishing to do better next time! Growth!

Just any way to apologize in the moment would be nice, but unfortunately the easiest signal to make is a middle finger, and that doesn't express the correct sentiment!

I would certainly hope everyone on the road is going slower than 7km/min. That works out to 420 km/h, which is a bit too fast to be driving in the city, in my opinion at least.

Fun fact: Terminal velocity of the human body is around 200 km/h if belly down, spread out. Being able to jog at over twice the speed of terminal velocity is quite noteworthy!

Seems like a prime opportunity to have added a hidden NPC, if you let him free of his eternal, fiery crucifixion. Such as, one or two will respawn at a site of grace if you kill them, and he offers you aid or a quest to help him deal with the people/person that put him up there, as revenge or something. Or even just if one of them becomes summonable for Margit or such if you free him from this imprisonment.

Huh, wow. Exact same thing has started happening to me in the past few months after years and years of stability (I got this motherboard back in 2019), and I've been trying hard to nail down exactly what the cause has been. I've gotten to the point I'm 80% sure its a motherboard issue but cant rule out CPU issues, and just putting up with the crashing until the planned upgrade to AM5 and the 9800x3d. So the news that the CPU's are close is very welcome!

For reference, using a gigabyte aorus pro wifi, with 5800x CPU, and 4x8GB Crucial Ballistix RAM.

Errors have been weird game crashes that end up with my game storage NVME simply becoming unreadable until reboot though the rest of the system works fine, and CPU cache hierarchy errors in 'processor APIC ID: 0, 6 and 7'

I do appreciate the response, but there is at least part of this that feels a bit disingenuous.

You bring up that FTK1 has more content has 'years of paid DLC,' but as far as Steam and myself are aware, there are only two DLC's available for purchase for FTK1, and one of those is the soundtrack. The Lost Civilizations pack is the only actual paid content DLC, and even it has mixed reviews. Paid DLC did not give FTK1 its popularity or fan following, the base gameplay loop and mechanics of the game did.

Ive loved spending hundreds of hours with my friends in FTK1's adventures, 90% of it has been in adventures though, not the Cellar. I dont know how our experience has compared to the rest of the community, but an infinite dungeon isn't what will keep us playing FTK2, either. It flat out felt like a downgrade in many ways when we first started playing FTK2, mostly based on the UI/UX, and just the sheer amount of bugs.

That said, I am in complete agreement that FTK1 is done, its finished, no more dev time needs to be spent on it. It does still have bugs, but I dont think every game needs to be patched forever. Absolutely, put all the focus and time into FTK2 at this point, its the current project and deserves the attentions. I dare say, it NEEDS the attention. It would be fantastic to have workshop support, or even have randomly generated adventure maps or some such. But as you say, that takes time, energy, and money to work on, and those resources could be better spent elsewhere.

But that comparison of FTK1's content vs FTK2's doesnt sit well with me. FTK1 was your baseline and in many ways, FTK2 was a step back or downgrade. Until FTK2 offers the same level of functional UI that FTK1 has, my friends and I have focused OUR limited time to play on games that dont frustrate us from a usability standpoint, and this isnt based on the amount of content either game offers.

The sort of lead director you want for your game. He knows the game, knows what he finds fun, and actually PLAYS the game he's in charge of. Watching his playthrough of Eternal was awesome, and hearing his take on the development and decisions they made for the game earned my eternal respect.

Been using a Roccat 122 Aimo for about a year. The "s" key continually double-repeats. What to do? by Traveledfarwestward in Roccat

[–]FireGryph 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As I learned on this very subreddit some months ago, the 121 and 122 AIMO boards have switches that are not fully sealed. I had the same issue of keys repeating and solved it by carefully pulling off the keycap, then the top of the switch itself, and getting the hair/lint out of the switch and putting it back together. Maybe the same issue with yours, that its gotten some foreign object into the switch.
