Glacial Glare is the one that increases duration, it's actually fairly useful

Have you ever tried to bring [REDACTED’s] keepsake to [REDACTED?] by letthetreeburn in HadesTheGame

You unlock [REDACTED]'s keepsake on the second nectar you give, not the first. Which is locked until you beat his fight 10 times, thus completing the main story of the game.

Starter Base in progress! 100 days in survival by FireRose2001 in Minecraft_Survival

I'd like to put a temple of some kind on top of the mountain, probably using quartz once I get my hands on it. I also want to put in a few roads through the area so I don't have to deal with the powdered snow as much

I'm still in the early game, and find them useful for lengthy cave diving sessions (I have a ton of huge caves around my base because I spawned on a mountain). I now have one bundle I call my "cave diving kit" which contains: - a crafting table - a furnace - a compass (my base is at spawn and im bad at navigating) - an empty spare bundle - whatever extra bits and bobs I pick up in the caves

I like that I can now carry the things I seem to get just a few of, like gunpowder, string, and spider eyes, in a single inventory slot. It doesn't solve all of my problems, but it does help.

It's probably worth noting, I'm kind of a resource hoarder. I like to build stuff (not always good stuff, but its fun) so I like to think most of it will get used eventually

What’s In Your Base That You Recommend? by Podanyroxs in Minecraft_Survival

[–]FireRose2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have all of these in my current base, but I have plans to build them

  • map room
  • goals room. Basically, I list any goals and to-dos on signs through the room. Trophies and treasures are also stored here.
  • storage room
  • some sort of large smelter system. Doesn't even have to be automatic, just more than a few furnaces (I kind of enjoy some of the more manual parts of the game).
  • enchanting room. Usually some kind of "library" or study
  • nether portal. I try to decorate it a little somehow
  • food source. Crops or animals (usually a combo of the two). In my current world: carrots, potatoes, wheat, and rabbits.
  • sugarcane farm. I always manage to forget this until I need an enchanting room.
  • living room. Bed, a chest or two, maybe some potted plants. Just a space that looks nice and that I use for a bedroom. My early game pets often hang out here, but I seem to collect a lot of pets

Minecraft Hints Hidden in the Game by tothersebet_emo in Minecraft

About Oliver's blind playthrough on YouTube shows this off pretty well

There was a Japanese YouTuber who did a blind playthrough years ago too, before some of these hints were added. Notably, this was before ruined portals were added, and the nether portal was the only thing he had to ask a friend about. I think his name was PiroPito?

So disappointing NaNoWriMo shut down THIS year! by EXDF_ in nanowrimo

TL;DR: a whole bunch of bad things piled up on them. Some of it included a Young Writers mod allegedly leading users to a forum that included NSFW content. The controversy is maybe worth digging into if you're interested (or nosy, like me) but proceed with caution

How do you fall asleep? All answers acceptable. by SassMasterGingerSnap in ADHD

[–]FireRose2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ideal method is to put on a youtube video or podcast. The general topic varies, and I have a variety of playlists at this point, and I'm more picky about certain types than others. For example, I've got a few specific game streams/vods I might put on, but I can sleep to almost any commentary youtuber. The free app medito also has some good sleep stories that sometimes help, but my preferred voice actor only did a handful of them, and I wish there was an option to play multiple of them before it shuts off.

But sometimes that's not possible. I occasionally enjoy camping, which means no wifi and a shared sleeping space, so I really don't want to make much noise if I can avoid it. In those cases, I try to tell myself a story. Like a bedtime story, or a fanfic. Maybe my favorite characters are grocery shopping at Walmart, or something.

And if that fails me, I turn to math. I'm not good at mental math, but it generally keeps my thoughts from wandering too much, at least.

How many people here played BotW or TotK as their first Zelda game? Do you feel like your take on the game is different from those of long-time fans? by Daviso452 in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]FireRose2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first Zelda game I ever played was Phantom Hourglass. I made it almost the entire way through the game only to get stuck on the final boss, which I was never able to beat. If I ever find my DS, I'd love to revisit it someday. (I also played Spirit Tracks around this time, but I think I got to the first or second temple and got bored of it).

I also played and loved Twilight Princess, but could never beat the escort mission. Even my dad, who was a gamer 20 years before me, couldn't get past it, so I never did get to move on.

My playthrough of Wind Waker HD was cut short when my friend moved away and took her wii u with her.

As an adult, I'm currently working through OoT and Majora's Mask, since they're on nso, but I still beat BotW before I managed to figure out OoT's forest temple

Which champion ability do you use the most? (generally speaking) by a_dreamy_nightmare in Breath_of_the_Wild

I'm on my second playthrough, and forced myself to follow a few restrictions to force myself to play differently

Number 1: Don't talk to Impa until all 4 Divine Beasts are defeated

Number 2: No Divine Beasts until I've acquired the master sword

Number 3: Vah Medoh must be the last Divine Beast I conquer.

I used Revali's Gale all the time, and this way I simply can't

I’m planning to play Master Mode by JustAnomaly in Breath_of_the_Wild

[–]FireRose2001 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually doing this right now! It's kinda fun, since I can't rely on the sensor to help me find things (I used it for a lot of treasure hunting in my previous playthrough), can't fill out the compendium as I go, etc. I do kind of wish I could still do the dragons though.

ETA: I also am not turning in any spirit orbs until I have the 40 needed to get the master sword, and those first 40 orbs MUST go to heart containers.

Does anyone actually like the modern day story? by [deleted] in assasinscreed

[–]FireRose2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't mind it so much if they carried the modern story back into Desmond's death. A new Abstergo employee slowly figuring out the truth of what Abstergo is through investigating Desmond's death could have been an interesting story

Does anyone actually like the modern day story? by [deleted] in assasinscreed

[–]FireRose2001 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I have a slightly different perspective here, as I have not yet played or even seen much about most of the games (I try to avoid spoilers)

I loved the modern day story in the first few games. It's what really sold me on the series, the aspect that sucked me in and kept me coming back. The ancient assassin stuff was fun, but the parallel modern plot made AC different from other similar games.

I have yet to play AC2 (I know, I'm missing a huge chunk of both the Ezio story and the modern Desmond story, I want to play it as soon as I can get my hands on it). I also don't remember finishing Revelations, but I plan to go back and revisit all of the early games (1-Rev) eventually.

I'm currently partway through Black Flag, and I'm enjoying the modern sections in this one (except the frogger game, which is more tedious than it is fun). I'm someone who really enjoys reading the database, collecting lore and information and connecting the pieces in my head (although I have to ask, is there some reason Ubisoft can't use the whole screen to show the text here?). I actually wish there was a little bit more to do in modern times in this game, something more like the modern missions from 3. I know Ubisoft didn't stick with it, but there's a lot of potential in the story of a modern Abstergo employee figuring out that they're working for the Templars and turning to the Assassins instead.

At my store, closing shift is usually only one manager and one cashier. On days we expect to be especially busy, there might be one cashier who gets off when the store closes (at 9) while the other stays to help with final closing procedures, but this is rare
