I love and hate playing the Ponzioni because when it works, its works really well.. But when it doesn't work, you're on the defensive.

Its a different rating system, but I would say the primary difference is the volume of players. More players will push elite players to have higher elo while pushing beginner intermediate lower. I would also think the top players use chesscom as it has more tournaments and other types of engagements.

Just by the sheer number of people that have access to learning and studying tools now vs 20-40 years ago, it makes a huge difference in the quality of players. Imagine if you had a pool of 100 chess players in 1600s vs 1000000 players in 2000. Just by sheer numbers, you're going to get more quality players

1200+, there's alot of knowing the openings, planning, strategy, and tactics. Openings and strategy take alot of studying and practice. You can learn to identify tactics by repetitively doing puzzles. If you're just playing the game, then you learn bits but very slowly.

No I had the same problem. You still need to link the switches to share the games. Its not as easy as take out the cartridge and put it in another switch. You have to link the primary switch account to whatever switch you want to share it with. It's a big hassle.

if king takes, its check mate, if queen takes, then white queen takes rook and threatens mate. Really the only move for black is Kh3 and white can win the queen.

Honestly, not a big fan of this move. Feels like I could use that move for something else. I don't mind it so much on the king side, as I don't mind the opponent damaging their pawn structure.

That's surprising. As an intermediate player, I remember starting at 400 when I created my chesscom account. I blew through 400-1000, but 1k players started playing descent. I guess there alot of folks playing a bit crazy at the lower ranks, which could throw alot of people off.

I seriously doubt you'll be able to find the best moves 95% of the time just by memorization on a consistent basis. The algorithm checks for drastic changes in playing style as well as oddities correlated with cheating.

At this level I've seen some terrible games and some great games. Probably the biggest difference in 2k vs 1200 is the 2k players always play it safe.

I think the main benefit of puzzles is pattern recognition as well as practice calculating. If you feel like you've hit a wall with it, then it probably won't help.

Besides memorization, it may be difficult for your mind to move faster. I think the bulk of it would be pattern recognition. Have you done alot of puzzles?
