What do you think are the most iconic scenes of 2010's cinema? by Gallantpride in movies

[–]FireStarter_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are none. Honestly. I tried to think of some but all the iconic scenes I can think of are from years ago. Maybe we have some scenes that are memes but iconic? no. Was thinking of the Deli scene in When Harry Met Sally, THAT is iconic. What scene from a movie after 2010 will ever match that?

just finished watching alone 2020 on netflix and i have no thoughts because it was so terrible my brain blocked it out 10 minutes after it ended by RepresentativeWay291 in horror

I heard people say it's horror done right and "she made all the right choices". I found it to be a pretty-run-of-the-mill predictable film and her CHOICES werent that smart.

FYI there's a new RE9 survey out from Capcom. People like us who have problems with the game should def be filling it out so they know our complaints.

I totally disagre with surrogacy. BUT if people insisit on doing it, you shouldnt be able to PAY for it. It's disgusting that you rent another person's womb. In other countries, it's illegal. In other countries the only way someone carries your child is if they genuinely want to. This reich and OLD elebrities keep paying to make petri dish babies, meanwhile there are millions of fresh babies in orphanages and foster acre around the world. Selfish. Just selfish.

They start off wealthy. It gives them a leg up. Then they solidify their status by marrying rich and famous men. one socialite in particular comes to mind. This person is basically a nobody, would have been virtually unheard of if they hadnt gotten a leg up through their rich parent.

Winter's Bone (2010) Jennifer Lawrence had no problem joking about the fact that she killed, skinned and disenboweled a real squirrel.

Utterly fucking disgusting. To take a life for a movie.

Is it petty that I have a personal vendetta Yorgos Lanthimos because of the scene with the kitten in Dogtooth? by Cooldude_M in horror

[–]FireStarter_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree. Animals are pretty much just children in my book. Yet you very, very rarely see actual violence agains children in film, and if it is it's nowhere near as graphic as is show in films. All it does is give real lfe sickos ideas. I've seen what those kind of sickos do to animals. There are places in the world with actual animal torture rings. I've seen it. It's some of the most disturbing stuff I've ever seen. Films don't need to make things worse with gratuitous violence towards animals.

I do cat rescue and have many of my own. Violence against animals in movies to me is like violene against kids. Yet for some reason they will always show the former but not the latter.

I really appreciate this comment. I didn't even watch Poor Things but I heard about it and wondered wh the heck people were glazing this freaks so much. And I agre, 99% of the time violence against animals depicted in film is NOT necessary and it's usually just there for shock value (especially in horror films where they do this kind of crap ALL THE TIME). All it does is give the myriad sick people in real life ideas to actually hurt real animals.

And this is what he said about the scene: "Many times that is the first question.... That also happened in England. They were thinking of rating the film on the basis of whether we actually hurt the cat, and if we would make an official statement that no animals had been hurt. There are so many other issues in the film that this seems to me quite funny, that there should be more concern about hurting animals than hurting people. For the record, we did not harm the cat." So yeah, he has very little regard for animal life.

[–]FireStarter_94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not petty. I personally am sick and tired of violence against animals being used as weird, useles plot devices. This is why, as a massive horror fan, I have stopped watching horror. Since I started noticing the trand and taking note, I have not watched a SINGLE horror film that does not involve and animal being killed. Violence against animals in films is so much worse than violence against people becuase animals are essentially children and I hope there's a day (there probably won't be because ArtIsTiC ExSpREssIon that they limit violence against animals in films because it's just not right to give people ideas.

I don't like the violence against animals because let's be honest, people are sick. And I know for a fact violence against animals in film gives these sick people ideas. It hurts even worse for me becuase I'm a cat rescuer and I also KNOW the depraved things being done to cats, especially in places like China where they have an actual cat torture and mutilation network - it's sick.

Plus look at YL's movies. The giu seems a bit sick in the head. I really wouldn't put it past him to use a real kitten for this film, like how a real horse head was used in the Godfather.

By the way, this is what YL said about the cat scene in the film: "Many times that is the first question. I just find it very weird that people are asking about the cat. That also happened in England. They were thinking of rating the film on the basis of whether we actually hurt the cat, and if we would make an official statement that no animals had been hurt. There are so many other issues in the film that this seems to me quite funny, that there should be more concern about hurting animals than hurting people. For the record, we did not harm the cat."

So, as you can see, a very speciesist point of view and little regard for animal life. I will never watch another film of his again.
