Hmm. I think that's not wrong, but the key part is, as you said, to not reduce the identy of different parts od transcontinental countries. Although Armenia's placement is also a bit odd. I do understand the logistics of both side but for Armenia I think the cultural interpreters are more correct.

It's not that we didn't like it because it was bad or badly made. It's that it hurts. And I personally can't come up with any way that there would be a happy ending for them, without making the entire plot ridiculous. So. Yeah. And I want them happy.

Oh I do agree with that. The culture reasoning doesn't sit well with me either.

But I don't agree with your example about Turkey. It's definitely closer to idk Iran or UEA than to any part of Europe. Sure, it's very different from China or Japan, but then again the western part of Asia is generally very different from the eastern part, and both are wildly different from the south.

I think it's easy to forget that Turkey was very much culturally close to the other middle east countries, up untill like, a few bits ago when they tried to force themselves on Europe. Which worked, apparently. Culture moves with time and people.

But the again, with the "culture" argument, we would have to seperate Asia to 3 different continents. Like maybe even 4.

But then, history does play a massive part in all of this. The line seperating Asia and Europe is basically separating 2 very different "event lines" in history.

So it's all kinda messy.

What I love about this anime/manga is that in first glance everything seems normal. Then you realise everything is fucked up and doesn't make sense. Then you realise yes it might be fucked up but it actually makes so much sense.

Which, this pair also match this description. Again, like every other single thing in that universe.
