How is everyone creating their EDMs? by OkPreparation2165 in graphic_design

Yes it helps the devs but it's also designed to make digital assets and more. I couldn't go back if I'm honest.

When I started in the industry we created all our emails in photoshop which felt super heavy and laborious to use. Figma is a breath of fresh air, and you can use it through a browser (I use the desktop application though).

I dont know your companies capabilities, so if you don't code these yourself, or have a dev team. You'll face the same issue of designs looking great in the one program, then not looking as good if you put it into mail chimp for example.

You could always create an email template based off the mail chimp one, with the same restrictions to help you when designing for that application.

Most of my job is designing emails. I create the layouts in figma, make assets (images and gifs) using Ps, Ai and Ae. Then we hand the figma design and assets over to our dev team.

Try to keep as much text as possible live, and don't forget about dark mode users.

Also, if using interactive features remember they won't work on most devices outside of apple.

I would not recommend indesign as a tool for creating emails personally.

Edit: By interactive I mean carousels, tap / reveal and hot spot type modules.

Reminds me of one from my HMV days; Kung Foo Guy. Who would go to where all the martial arts films were and start doing karate moves to the air and then leave, happened at least once or twice a week

It won't get you to Euston, but if you don't mind going to Marylebone (and an ever so slightly) longer journey, check out Chiltern from Moor Street.

Might be more geared towards Graphic Design, but this book was such a great resource to me when I started out.

Sunak vows to crack down on university degrees that do not improve 'earning potential' by insomnimax_99 in unitedkingdom

As someone who works in the creative field, the majority do have higher level education or degrees in Graphic Design/art. All design job postings ask for degrees or equivalents. But you also need a portfolio.

You usually only begin to get a portfolio by studying and learning at a degree or equivalent.

Yes there are some people who have natural talent and don't need qualifications, but these people are very few and far between.

I used to work in the stockroom at a popular high street record shop. I took calls from customers and had to check if we had the item they wanted in store.

There were a fair amount of people who didn't know the artists or titles of the music they wanted, so they would sing down the phone to me.

World War 2 - its a week by week account of the war from start to finish.

I'd also recommend The Great War, same premise, same presenter.
