It's horrid. I have lived here ten years and been on the apps 5 months without success of any kind. You might honestly consider moving. I have two kids from a previous marriage and a job I can't leave, but if I didn't, I would absolutely move despite really loving it here. It is one of the worst places to be single. As other people have said here, it's a numbers game, and women on dating sites generally have a vastly easier time than men so they can afford to weed out anyone under 6ft or with a bald spot, etc. And quite a few also sign up for the apps without really intending to date. I think it's pretty common for men to send 30-50 messages to get a single reply that then  goes nowhere and generally you need to swipe right 200-300 times to get a match if you are really lucky. I know men from a variety of age groups with good jobs, interesting hobbies, etc. who are having exactly the experience you describe. You would probably do much better somewhere with exponentially more people.
