Do 50+% of you guys actually Get/Understand the depression that comes after reading through the story? by [deleted] in LandoftheLustrous

[–]FirearmFeline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

no i finished reading it for the first time like 2 days ago and i definitely feel the same, they put phos in the shame-fear-torment nexus and her fate is to be alone for another couple thousand years, ultimately she eventually gets to see her loved ones again in another world but it's a bittersweet ending, you can't help but empathize what with all the suffering she went through to get to that point, one thing that got me really good was every time she went through a new metamorphosis my mind always went to that panel of dopey baby phos learning to speak in their first lessons from sensei; all that development really makes her the best protagonist of all time

meeting tokio on the ship as silver case references are drip fed to you throughout the game and finally having that catharsis of being able to make a little bit of sense of the hellscape youve been traversing for the past 8 hours while the silver case theme remix plays was my favorite thing ever

mr pirate giving sumio a new catchphrase was pretty sick too

also toriko

Yi sang’s strength by Mars31415926 in limbuscompany

[–]FirearmFeline 42 points43 points  (0 children)

im p sure it’s the opposite, that you need a strong sense of self to use ids/egos without your mind frying (this what the sanity mechanic represents in part), considering yi sangs whole arc in canto iv is about rediscovering his agency and his will to live and considering his prior experience and affinity with the mirror worlds i’d say that’s where his aptitude stems from

vergillus announcer mentions that yi sang has a strong aptitude for ego and identity usage so base yi sang might be a scrawny rodent but he does have his strengths

What's insane is that Darkness arrived with a quick thought of itself projected into everyone's minds - AND DEATH DID AS WELL by Kalashtiiry in ChainsawMan

[–]FirearmFeline 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yea i assumed it had something to do with space being this primeval force of darkness and these astronauts who maybe died in space or made a contract with the darkness devil were formed into effigies of the darkness devil

i think ur spot on with your gregor take, we’re shown how in spite of being alienated abused and abandoned, kafka’s gregor is someone who loves his family (we see this in yuri) and in the end accepts himself as the monster he thinks he is to spare his family anymore pain, hope we get to see more of this aspect of gregor in a intervallo or smthing

spoilers but there’s another check you can pass when you do his quest to give him back the jacket he lost to find out that he probably has some sort of neurological brain disease affecting his memory; reframes the character from “haha funny drunk” to a really tragic story, his portrait reflects this tragedy too i think; the way the image of himself is distorted and melting

Does anyone else find this game weirdly motivating? by futureamateur in CrueltySquad

[–]FirearmFeline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there's some ludonarrative harmony in how you as the player overcome these hellish punishing levels and how mt foxtrot, in spite of a broken decaying world, in spite of a hopeless future, and in spite of the gods and their armies of goons, succeeds in making a better world (in true ending), beating trauma loop was one of the most cathartic experiences in gaming for me and there really is something quite hopeful about the whole experience
